Seriously, fuck it to hell.
Arright yes there have been some nice improvements like: 1) windows media player actually doesn't freeze your computer when you start it and actually plays more than one file type. but still... who the fuck uses that piece of shit. 2) the new taskbar is pretty good and doesn't turn the bottom of your screen into a clusterfuck 3) the half half page thing is pretty good
Here's all the problems I'm having 1) My laptop's graphics card doesn't work with win7. After spending 3 full days reading on forums how to fix this shit, installing uninstalling 20 times different drivers and mobility modding and more drivers and more changing patches and reg files and shit, my graphics card still doesn't work with win7. that means- 2) CS doesnt work and SC comes out as a small ass window. ok CS I can live with... I just set it to 1200 and the window gets a little bigger but the sides of my display are still black. SC I just can't play. it's too fucking small and I've tried every god damned thing xp compatibility, run in 480x600, window mode, a million display settings, a billion screen resolution. nothing works and I've given up. it's as if my gfx card doesn't sense full screen games and just doesn't auto adjust. tried virtual box too doesn't work. 3) N doesn't work for some fucking reason. set controls, go to play screen, controls wiped. set controls again, go to play screen, controls wiped. no more ninja skillz dodging lazers and miniguns. 4) VLC player for some reason crashes everytime I open it. I clikc don't send error report and it just pops up again for no reason. not really a problem, I just have to click DONT SEND ERROR REPORT every god damned time I open VLC. 5) logitech G3 mouse driver doesn't work with win7, so for some reason scrolling doesn't work that well and when playing CS my mouse goes dead for 2 seconds at random times. if it just so happens a dude pops up starts hacking away at you with a deagle you're not aiming and you're not shooting. 6) steam fucks up. when i just installed win7 I was blown away how damn fast steam starts up (within 6 seconds I counted) but after a million times of INSTALL UPDATES AND SHUT DOWN god knows what hte fuck microsoft fucked up, steam starts and just hangs for like 2 minutes, then asks for my password, then hangs for another 2 minutes. this either results in working, or it doesn't work where I have to end process and start steam again (hang for 2 min, enter password then hang 2min again). if this doesnt work I have to restart my computer and hope to god/allah/santa/bugs bunny/captain planet that it fucking works this time. 7) VPN service doesn't work with win7 so no more facebook/youtube for me. YEAY
anyway I have exams now so im not going to fuck around with this shit, but after exams I'm going back to Vista. seriously I never had problems with vista I dont understand why everybody screams in my face that vista is bad. If anything microsoft needs to address all these fucking problems and get them fixed asap.

it's your laptop that has issues
|
Yeah, it sounds like various parts of your laptop are pretty fucked

Your laptop is pretty much shit, and can't handle Win7, not that Win7 is without problems, but it certainly isn't the ones that ail you.

Hey kid, if I wanted advice on how to run my own blog I would ask someone that actually mattered. It actually IS my own BLOG for all my own personal stupid shit, that's why I posted it here.
I advise you keep your mouth shut tight as fuck in the future since you're new around here and the "greatest resource" in your quote wasn't to some strategy guide I had anticipated but a list of porn links.

Yea maybe so but I never had problems with Vista and I had not anticipated so many compatibility issues.

Did you run the Windows 7 Compatibility tool before you installed it on your laptop? I know of a few people who have had problems but for the most part, smooth and clean installs.

1. that sucks, but it's not necessarily Windows 7 fault (depending on how old your GPU is) 2. your SC problem is likely an extension/symptom of your GPU problem. 3. N? 4. Use MPC-HD from http://cccp-project.net It's better. 5. that's not Window's fault. 6. likely to be client side, as Steam runs fine on just about every other installation of Windows 7 7. also likely client side.

I love how this reply belongs in the letting off steam thread even more than OP

#2 is most likely caused by #1.
3) I downloaded N in 2 seconds on my win7 and the controls were set on by default already and worked flawlessly. Maybe try to re download?
4) again, try to download VLC again or try using a superior player...say...Media Player Classic (not to be confused with Windows Media Player).
5) check logitech website for driver support on the g3 for win7. windows has a great resource of drivers that might work on it without the need of any logitech drivers. or try to update the drivers just right click on them on the devmgmt and select Update Drivers then select "Search automatically for updated driver software", that's worked for me a couple of times.
6) Do you have Peerblocker on with HTTP blocking enabled? that happened to me. Try disabling the firewall to make sure that's not the cause of the problem. reinstall if you don't know what else to do. you don't have to get rid of all your games (keep your steamapps folder). to reinstall steam.
7) use one of the million proxy out there.

What kind of VPN service do you use? I use a pptp VPN and it works very well on Windows 7.
and Oh, Go look at your Video card's setting and untick the keep aspect ratio thingy assuming that you have an old intel GPU.
I have windows 7 and I have not yet encountered a problem with it.

Was that really necessary?
It was merely a suggestion. Way to get mad about absolutely nothing.

So which of those problems is actually Microsofts fault?
Every application that is written along Microsofts Coding Guidelines (far older than Win7) should still work properly, the only problem are applications that try to use coding shortcuts or rely on assumptions that were mostly correct 10 years ago but are wrong now... often the assumption that everyone using a PC is logged in as administrator (which is no longer true and was for years the main security concern with windows based systems).
Blame the application and driver developers, they are at fault

Windows 7 is arguably one of the easiest operating systems that I have ever used. It is pretty much as good as you can get in terms of hardware and software compatibility (though often at the expense of freedom). The problems you described are either the result of user error, or have been addressed by someone else who has already addressed the problem.
I can understand your frustration--some days we just want things to work.
But seriously man, I chuckled on the inside when I read your bit about graphics drivers. Try running Arch linux and having to recompile your drivers every time there's a kernel update and then go back to complaining about installing and uninstalling binaries.

The rage is strong in this one.
Why hate Windows when you can hate your laptop?
Not to mention this is probably a good excuse to convince your parent to get you another one.

Graphics card doesnt work on Win7? Your card must be too old. Logitech G3 doesn't work? Mine does, fully supported. VPN do work, nicely. VLC works nicely for me, but maybe try MPC or GOMTV, they are decent alternatives.
Maybe your laptop is too outdated so most of its devices is not supported in windows 7. This is a joke, you totally made a blog about win7 when EVERY problem is to do with your laptop and not win7.
PS Yes Vista is bad, compare with Win7 anyway, hell even WinXP is miles better than vista in every possible way.
