Obviously, if you both view it the same way, you'll never message each other, regardless of interest. Everyone always wants to test the other person. You can't be hung up or expectant of them in that regard. If you're interested in talking, send a message; if they reply, great. If they don't, don't assume the worst.
Good words.
Another thing for all you younglings to consider is this.
If a girl likes you and is inexperienced, she will respond amiably and relatively quickly to your tests. If a girl likes you and is more experienced, she will know how dangerous it is to be completely obvious with her feelings. -> slow // null response If a girl likes you and is shy, she will not know how to respond to random statements like, 'Just got out of car and made a sandwich ^_^'. --> slow // null response.
Girls are interesting creatures that believe in horoscopes. Thus they expect you to 'get them.'

Send her really lewd texts and then if she reacts negatively apologize and say it was your friend that sent them from your phone.

I long for the days when a real man would pen a letter on yellowed parchment to a fair maiden, speaking of how her flaxen hair and heaving bosom are akin to the moon and the stars, and how the ocean can be seen in her deep blue eyes.
Some girls swoon at that shit, but normal girls, and my girl, vomit at it. Get real bro.

What is with this text messaging? Obviously writing a hand written letter and mailing it to her would get a better response. I mean you can buy stamps that have a smiley face on them too.

This is great news since it sounds like there is no chance of the girl not liking you.

i am genuinely curious about that; i've always liked both yet never seen either as optimal, so maybe popular wisdom can help me with that

^^100% depends on the girl. I know a few girls that would probably go batshit over a guy if he sent them a letter, but most girls I know would at most think it was kinda cute...maybe.

I don't think it really does depend on the girl.
From my experience, I would say that most girls would love a handwritten letter from a boyfriend and would find it extremely cute. However, I think that most girls would find a handwritten letter quite weird before the "well-established relationship" stage.
I feel like it's the same thing as buying a present for her out of the blue. Cute if you're already dating, but obsessive if you're courting her.

BUT:
1. it's all random and based off variables u can not know 2. calling a girl with a purpose and a plan is usually better than gay texting
and most importantly:
3. if you made a good first impression on her (and no, her giving you her number does not mean you accomplished this) then it does not fucken matter if you text her first or wait for her to text you
truth. I have been noticing lately that girls that I aim or text throughout the day don't really care even though they like the social crap. You have to just call them, and don't just chat to chat. I never did that shit with my ex and the relationship lasted 4 years. I was doing everything the opposite with this new girl and it lasted like 2 months.
PS- the main thing about texting is that its weak. It shows more confidence and obviously you can make a better impression talking etc.
Use texting mainly as it was designed. A tool for when you can't make a phone call to say something important. If you are able to make a phone call but it's not worth calling to say 1 simple (useless?) thing then don't text or call.
And I wouldn't write a love letter unless you were already well invested in a relationship.

Why you gotta over-think it? If you wanna text do it
|
|
Focus on meeting as many people as possible since you are single. This will distract you from texting every day. Also you will go on more dates, get experience etc., and when she texts you asking what you're up to you can tell her you're on a date, if she has any interest in you she will flip out and ask you out.
