With 1024 posts in to my TL.net, I figured I'd look back and see if I've done anything worthwhile in my time here. I came here as many did, having watched the GOMTV Classic and eventually registering for the site when the SC2 Beta hit. Being one of those "D- ICCUP, Masters League SC2" players, I avoided balance discussions, knowing that I only really play for fun and arguing over things beyond mine (and others) ability to truly grasp wasn't fun at all.

In my time here, I have made a good amount of friends, a lot of which came from the local DC community, and some whom I've talked to in other avenues. Thanks to...

Teamliquid DC Nerds

Haemoculous - Thanks for being chill and letting me whine to you about how hard life is.
Orb - Thanks for being chill and providing hours of ragertainment.
Caucasianasian - Thanks for being chill, giving me rides and having enlightening car conversations
Luckyfool - Thanks for being chill and losing to avilo.
Storrzerg - Thanks for being chill and an entertaining drunk
Sadistx - I hate you, terran is OP >:O
Other DC Nerds - <3

Misc. TL'ers

Catyoul - Thanks for having a sexy voice and destroying me at Blood Bowl.
potatoedoughnut - Thanks for destroying me at Blood Bowl.
nameless - Nerding out with me on Steam / SC2 / etc and being a chill dude.

My final thanks to..

djWHEAT - This isn't strictly TL related, but it's 5AM and I am reflecting on life. You have had more of an influence on me than you know.

At the ripe young age of 16 (6 years ago) I knew nothing of competitive gaming and spent my life on World of Warcraft. The first version of Weapon of Choice was born (under RadioITG / WOWRadio) and I had little expectations as to what would follow, but I was completely wrong. ITG eventually dismissed its relationship with WOWRadio and I followed them, learning of competitive Quake, Counter-strike, RTCW and more. Suffice to say, I found competitive gaming.

A year past and Weapon of Choice was reborn under the banner of Guild Wars, where you welcomed WoC / ITG fans in to a guild that many of us eventually became proud of. I followed you into this guild with high hopes of getting to know you and the world of competitive gaming and was not disappointed. VXIX may have lived a short life with the birth of your son leaving us leaderless, but you personally introduced me a world that a 16-year-old antisocial high school dropout and overall fuck-up could appreciate. I have lived in this world ever since.

Being one of those always-teased kids growing up and moving from school to school in the military family, I rarely had people I could call true friends, let alone regular-old friends. VXIX was among the first times my social development was really challenged, where I was merely an awkward kid learning how to fit in to a clique of people. Of course, I'm not giving you all the credit- people within the guild (kF mostly) welcomed to me the community and I learned much from them, even he-who-shall-not-be-named ("I've got a warrior on me" - an inside joke that other readers won't understand).

Since then, we have met a number of times. Whether at the two Digital Lifes I attended, MLG DC or (I think) one of the CPL events I attended, you always welcomed me with a familiar smile and a firm handshake. I may have not always agreed with you (and specifically recall a time I disowned you during v2 of Epileptic Gaming in Califonia, but I digress) but I have always appreciated how you helped shape my life in to what it is now.

I've always told myself, if I win the lottery, you've got a millions of dollars heading your way. You've done a lot for me, directly or indirectly, and I have sat and watched your passion for years. From your work Nevada and in to a set of unfortunate circumstances in GGL / CGS in California, and back to Nevada, you have never lost your passion. For that, you have been a role model I could always appreciate, and I thank you for it.

Asking kF if he has the real version of this oldschool picture, but for now, I recreated it.

(edit: yes, "where" is intentional)

I'm a data packrat So here's the original!

Thanks for the kind words dude. Jen and I still talk about the days of VXIX and she even mentions how it helped he get through pregnancy because we were always keeping her occupied. It's so funny too because we still use many "jokes" and good times in our everyday life.

We still say "Aegis" when we want the other person to fast forward through commercials on the DVR.

Dog Aeris still gets mentioned at least once a month

Those were good times and I only hope that GW2 brings some more good times and possibly a resurrection of VXIX.

You've come a long way and I'm really glad that I got to be a part of that. One thing gaming has taught me is to not take my online gaming relationships for granted. Whether it was Quake, Ultima Online, GW, WoW, SC, whatever... I feel like the people I game with are some of the people I've gotten closest to (online). I hope people never take those relationships for granted!

Hope to see you at another event soon! And thank YOU for being a friend. :D

Hey Nokarot this is Dstar. kF and I were just talking about how GW/VXIX were the funnest times we've ever had in gaming. We still shout the funny quotes over comms when we play games. Good times.
