Last night, my college supplied the junior and senior Engineers of my college with unlimited red and white wine. We had a formal dinner with our clients and our professors. Filet mignon, salmon and other delights made the dinner amazing. My liaisons were not there, so it was just my professor and four other students who worked on the team at our table. While the guys didn't hit the wine too hard (preferring the martinelli's offered), we gals destroyed the wine. I think our table went through two bottles of red and four bottles of white wine.
When I was about five glasses in, my professor stood up to excuse himself. I wanted to thank him for his support and told him "Thanks for being a really good adviser!" He looked at me, patted me on the shoulder and laughed "Just keep drinking." My whole table burst into laughter as he turned and left, while... well, I took another sip of wine to hid my embarrassment!
And, boy, did I feel that wine this morning! I haven't been drinking much lately (just an afternoon beer a few times a week) and I was just not prepared for the raging hangover wine gives. I barely crawled out of bed to fetch myself some alieve and water, then sat around feeling shitty and playing League. Truthfully, it's not a terrible way to start the morning and I am thrilled it is dead week and I don't have classes.
Time to study, though! Or play more L4D...

I have never drank enough wine to experience a wine hangover. Then again, im not much of a drinker these days.
I would be worried about drinking that much with business associates. I have a tendency to not care about how foolishly I am acting and just enjoy myself. I think that's great around friends but with your business partners I don't know, lol

Congratulations, you just successfully made me miss about five minutes of my video which i am watching instead of going to bed to not oversleep tomorrow, because i mixed up your user name and thought you were someone else and was completely confused to see a picture of a girl pop up in that spoiler after reading a paragraph perfectly fitting for any average guy on TL. My worst hangover ever was from playing drinking Smash Bros. I went through a bottle and a half of champagne. Ughhh... My stomach gets upset just thinking about how I felt the next morning.

Yeah, I was a little worried, but it was just my professor and I jetted as soon as I started feeling tipsy. Of course, I downed two more glasses of wine, THEN left, so I was pretty sloshed when I got back to my dorm room!
Personally, I like "hanging out" with business peers, but, you're right, drinking heavily with them is a bit too far.

I've always been a huge geek! :D When I was little, I dressed like a boy and had huge glasses, which I guess fit my personality a bit more stereotypically.

I love beer! I'm drinking a Stone Levitation, a very hoppy beer that I absolutely adore!

Now if you really want to avoid that hangover you drink so much you are still drunk the next morning. Then you just start back up once you wake up.
Only draw back here is you likely won't remember 90% of said drinking session. You friends however, will remember everything and you will never live down whatever occurred. Man I miss college.

Our school is pretty awesome. They pay for our parties (outside of the actual alcohol) and even provide free pizza (30+ boxes per) at them. Though, the free pizza is supposed to help prevent alcohol poisonings, so I guess they have good justification for it.

Subjective advice:
Avoid any wine that even hints of sweet (champagne & similar are the worst), yeah they're tastier but I'm not sure if they are real wines, unless it's quite flavorful and sweet (stopping fermentation really early - almost grape juice) and then it's for deserts and in low quantities. Stick with red or white, I found mixing them doesn't work too great. And as an evolution, the more I spent on wines the less I had troubles the following morning, quantity being equal of course.
And a glass or two or as much as you want of water before sleep, damn that was the best discovery I made, only hangover cure (actually preventative I suppose) that really works.

As long as you didn't get noticeably or embarrassingly drunk in front of some professor/business figure you're fine. Just don't cross that line and drink the free stuff up!
Also never play Wine Pong when you run out of beer. It doesn't end well most of the time.

Haha, your professor played the whole thing nicely. I'm more of a fan of red wine: more flavor, strength and sweetness (sometimes).
Though, I usually drink my wine like a camel, sip it and just let it fulfill its duties as a blooming taste and not a funnel to become inebriated. Though, I don't blame you.
