So just bored, taking a break from studying and continuing up on the FF7 replay that i started up two weeks ago. Basically, FF7 has never been my top 3 games of the series (my list is 10, 8, 6 in that order), but had a few cousins over for a wedding, and was watching over a few of em. They got tired of LBP2 and getting their asses beat by Galactus (mvc3), and they don't want to watch anything on netflix, so i just look for a random DVD in my room and dust off ff7 Advent Children lol. They don't know wtf is going on, but watching it made me feel like replaying ff7. So yea here i am. Replaying it brought back some good memories (and some not as shocking now surprises like end of disc 1). Right now on disc two where Cloud gives black materia to Seph (again) and Tifa/Barret are about to be executed by Shinra.
And when i thought i would beat ff7 and that was it, i drunkenly dl'd an SNES emulator+ ff6/chrono trigger AND burrowed xenogears from a friend of mine. Yea i'm getting hit with that RPG nostalgia BAD. dunno if ill finish these (or even bother replaying), but meh.
So any other old nostalgic games you guys been playing/finished recently?

That's funny, I got that RPG nostalgia too recently, so I downloaded Breath of Fire 4, Saga Frontier 2, FF9, and Grandia and put them on my PSP. Having a blast I wish the PSP battery lasts longer though.
Also I just downloaded warcraft 2 two days ago, already beat the Orc / Human campaigns, and starting the "Beyond the Dark Portal" (expansion) orc campaign. Warcraft 2 was the first game I bought when I got my first PC back in the days

i never really played final fantasy cause i never had a playstation. i kinda feel i should get them in an emulator or something sometime.
i totally relate to this thread though, i got a friends nintendo 64 for a few months while he's at uni and i got goldeneye, mario kart, perfect dark on it. the thing is while goldeneye and perfect dark are awesome games the controls when playing back on it are really weird and make it quite hard to play.
another i did lately was after huk was talking in his stream about how real men picked charmander in original pokemon i got an emulator for that (my old game boys broken ) and played a load of it.
some others i always end up going back to every now and again is stuff like quake 1, dungeon keeper 2, alpha centauri, rollercoaster tycoon, theme hospital etc. fuck i love old video games
|
Super smash bros on the n64. Greatest non starcraft game ever :D
|
actually this thread has made me found something awesome.
http://code.google.com/p/corsix-th/
apparently these guys are making an open source version of theme hospital working on newer computers. not tried it yet so don't know how it'll be. but i thought i'd post it if anyone else loved this game as much as i did

I think over christmas break up until spring break I finished ff6, ff7, ff8, ff tactics, legend of dragoon, xenogears, chrono trigger, and star ocean 1+2, all on a psx emulator.
I don't know how I ever managed to finish these games when I was around 6, but these were some excellent games of their time.

Anybody remember the Namco Museum for the PS1? It had a collection of unforgettable classics and was an insane blast of fun with some twists thrown in. Dig Dug and Tower of Druaga were a real treat to play again.
|
I bust out the Heroes of Might and Magic III from time to time.
|
played me some Knights of the Old Republic today

Aw man! Namco Museum for PSOne was the freakin' best!
And Rayman.

Playing Startropics and Startropics 2 right now, after I'll likely play Faxanadu.

also aeris dying in disc 1. the feeling i had the first time just wasn't the same (obv.). i feel the same would be if i replayed re3, compared to when i was like 12 and realizing for the first time he doesn't just disappear when i go into another room

I replayed Portal recently, but it wasn't as good as I'd hoped the second time around. But what never lets you down? Mario Kart 64! Love that game

Unreal Diablo Deus Ex The Neverhood MechWarrior 2 Age of Empires II SimCity 2000 System Shock 2 Baldur's Gate I, II FreeSpace 2 Morrowind
Even more last year...school break is nice. It's not just nostalgia, they're amazing games.
and of course BW.

How did we forget the Ape Escape series for the PS1 as well? It just popped back into my head.

KOTOR
why is it nostalgic to play BW I play it everyday anyway/.
|
I tried out Warcraft 2: Combat Edition, which is the free, online-only, downloadable edition of Warcraft 2 that works on some fan-made servers, similar to the BW client that you can get from iCCup.
Anyways, Starcraft skills really came in handy when playing that game. Just as we always need to remember Pylons and Probes, we must also always remember the Peons and Pig Farms.

Just last week I played Dragon Force for the Sega Saturn and Tenchu + Tenchu 2. It really was a blast from the past. And Tenchu is pretty brutal, considering that you can chop your enemy's head off.
|
Deus Ex! Still awesome, even 11 year later.
|
i told myself i was just gonna speedrun through the game real quick, but here i am gettign everyone's ultimate weapons/lvl 4 limit break/KoTR/etc.
|
I'm replaying Half-life 1 and might even replay Opposing Force, although I remember OpFor being not that great the first time I beat it. I'm trying to think of other old FPS games I can play on my netbook but drawing a blank... I already beat Heretic/Hexen and a couple of other old FPSes over again like 6 months ago. I don't think I ever replayed Marathon Infinity so that'll be my next project, though I got kinda burned out after replaying the first two(and I'm too lazy to dig up Aleph One).
Anyone know any good single player PC FPS games released in like the late 90s?
edit: I never played Deus ex. Maybe now is the time.

Oh hell yeah, I'm gonna pull that out. 500k combos!
Recently.. just Kid Chameleon on the Sega Genesis. Getting stoned and trying to make it through 100+ levels without using any cheap warps. Took me many tries back then till I finally started beating it. Still good fun.

I absolutely loved THPS3 on the GameCube and even bought a PS2 guide for it. I did eventually sell the game (what was I thinking?!?!) and gave away the guide after I pretty much memorized it, but now I'm definitely in the market for the PS2 version. It is sold used for like $3 at most of the GameStop, but I'll need to travel a few extra miles because it wasn't at the one closest to my house.
Last year, I finally bought the fat PS2 after my (then puppy) dog chewed through my old slim-PS2's cord's and I sold the slim-PS2 to get TES4: Oblivion. The amount of great titles I can get for the PS2 is massive (Amazon still sells new PS1 and PS2 games) and the prices for them are absolutely insane (I ended up buying 4 used PS2 games for less than $10 with the B2G2 deal at GameStop).
I also recently installed Roller Coaster Tycoon to play again. It was one of my first PC games when I was little and I still enjoyed it when I played through it many years later. I remember I couldn't even understand the different words when I was in 1st Grade.

did anyone ever catch all 200 monkeys? I remember my sister and I were stuck on 199/200 and this dumb monkey was behind bars and we never found out how to get him.. LOL.

I played Warriors Orochi 2 recently because I used to play Samurai and Dynasty Warriors a ridiculous amount as a kid. After beating one of the five story modes, I realized it was a shitty game lol

Oh god, for about a week, I had a craving for Ape Escape. You can't emulate it on computer due to motion controls though. If I'm wrong, could someone tell me how?!?!

Busted out the snes to play mario rpg this weekend...but saved a messed up game 3/4 through the story.....lol.
