Things have been going pretty good on my end as far as SCII is concerned. I've more or less abandoned the 1 base roach/ling rush and changed it a bit. I've gone a more defensive approach with 1 base roach. Instead of rushing for 7 roaches and 7 pairs of lings for early aggression and the win, I've opted for 1 base and about 5 - 7 roaches for defense, saving up the minerals and grabbing an expo out of that. I keep the 3 drones on gas and go for speedlings and lair tech after. I've noticed a much better and more stable footing in the game, being able to get a solid economy going and able to grab my 3rd between the 10-13 minute mark. I'm still very uncomfortable leaving that early roach defense behind me though as it's more or less what I've been "brought up with" and don't want to try anything crazy on the ladder.
Speaking of the ladder, I've gone from facing all bronze league opponents to facing mostly silver with a splash of gold in there. I was very surprised when I was put up against a gold player, and held out pretty well, though ultimately losing. The next gold player I beat. So I was excited to see that, but still no promotion from the number 1 bronze spot I'm currently in.
As far as the cheese goes, I've gotten very good at catching it early. All about good OL placement against a protoss cheeser and catching their sneaky probes near my base ready to cannon rush and catching the zerg 6pooling. If I see a 6 pool I'd say I've won 95% of the time against it. I'm very happy losing to cheese is mostly behind me.
I'd still LOVE a coach and a practice partner so I can comfortably leave my "safe roach opening" and try more openings like 15 hatch or 15 gas 14 pool as they are more macro/economy centric opening builds. As always thanks for reading.

im pretty sure you will get promoted soon if you're even playing gold leaguers. perhaps if you continue beating gold leaguers, you can jump two leagues!
