This is just kind of a rant about my sc2 life. I am currently young in hs and was formerly a zerg player. I just got really tired of playing zerg at the masters level, it was annoying and I didnt find the race fun after a while. Then I tried to switch to terran and still deciding that, Because I tried switching and practicing on ladder I got demoted to diamond which set off this rage/depression. Another problem is that I have the need to be competitive and it makes me sad that I know other people around my age who are really good and a couple even top 200 quality. I get really depressed because I feel its so hard to get there. I know I shouldn't care and should go at my own pace because everyone moves at difference speeds in level ,but its also very hard to do when you talk to those people. Right now I am questioning which race to go and im in diamond. Even though the only reason I got there is because I can't stop toss cheese as Terran yet.

I am ranting on TL because I do not have any hardcore gamer friends in real life and I guess im just asking for advice.

if being good were easy then everyone would do it. it takes practice, diligence, and thought. if you really want to get good, watch every replay and find mistakes, and correct them until you cant find anymore.

as far as understanding the strategic theory and decision making, that takes lots of thought and time. think about possible ways that people can respond to your builds, and how you can trump these responses

Uhhh, dude, you were in masters. You're ahead of many, and if you work at it you could be top 50 by the time you are the average age of a pro gamer. Stop being upset.

Most importantly you have to keep a positive attitude as you are playing.
You need to play for a goal. Are you playing to improve? Or are you playing to achieve a certain clarity to a new strategy?
If you are trying a new strat you should not be discouraged if you lose. You need to also chill out and take a break when you are starting to get over the accepted "rage-meter"
If you are playing to improve set realistic goals to meet. Example:
1) I want to beat double barracks timing push
2) I want to be able to win when the game goes into late game
3) I want to perfect my XvsX opening.
etcetc

All in all, SC2 is a game. You need to enjoy it if you play. If you do not enjoy playing it anymore, I suggest you take a break and go outside and find other stuff to do.

Good luck. I'm the worst person to give advice maybe since many of my stream viewers know I rage much when I lose mirror-matches hahahahaa.

Just take it easy. Learning a new race takes time. Being a Masters level player means being that much better at the game than everyone else. You can't just pick up a new race and expect to be the best at it. You're going to need to work at it to get there.

It's good to be competitive, but you also need to be patient.

Forever shame for ditching the swarm, but I mean you were Masters. It shouldn't be too hard for you to learn how to beat some toss cheese. I'm sure if you ask around (practice partner thread, person who you faced on ladder, etc.), you'll find something to practice TvP defense with.

No this I think helped a lot and its great having someone so well known in the community as you helping me out. And thanks to the other posters this will really help, I believe I gave myself tunnel vision but your post are helping so thanks

instead of being depressed of your friends being better then you, use that as your motivation.

you switch, you drop. just the way the game works.

I always told myself...that even Flash loses a horrible loss every now and then (see: vs Hyuk.)

Or I guess if you're not a Brood War person...umm....even MC loses? Haha, no one is really super dominant like Flash has been for SC2 yet.

The point is, no one in the world is gonna go undefeated, so don't let your losses discourage you. You've already made a good first assessment

Step 2: Play a shitton of TvP in custom games, so your rating doesn't tank while you learn.
