It's always heartwarming to see people affected by reality checks and get their motivation.
Best of luck to you, I know you can do it.

I'm not sure as to how much you know about nutrition, but my common sense tells me that your eating regime doesn't seem very good--i.e. will it even make you full? I read haji's post before he deleted it and he brings up a very good point. :O Nonetheless, each time I read one of your entries, I feel some level of empathy...I have to haul ass as well. I wish you godspeed and intense focus!

1. I will only eat one pack of shin ramen, fruit and a can of tuna every day with lots of coffee until I lose all my excess weight as I think I need to be light to be able to work hard, I became fat after I became an executive, its time to get back down to 84kg. Get back to the hunger killer that I was.

I'm not sure if this is going to benefit you, its important to eat well to keep yourself functioning optimally. While you probably aren't going to have time to go to the gym and workout or whatever to get in shape, this kind of low nutrient diet is only going to drain your energy (though yes, you will lose weight).

I'm younger, not as experienced as you, but to me, your version of the perfect worker is someone that pushes past their own healthy limits. You talk about working until you can't see straight, and you contrast that with your current lax lifestyle. These are two extremes, and I can't see either of them being healthy.

I think this kind of thought process goes through many people. They look at themselves and realize that their life isn't what they want it to be, and then they set their goals and kick into overdrive, but a majority of them burn out after a while of pushing themselves so hard. You also mention this, that after your businesses are stable you are content to stop. Bouncing back between the two extremes is tiring.

I wish you the best of luck~

In terms of my diet, I am extremely overweight and most of my life, when I am productive, I usually eat less than nothing, even when I was a national level rugby player in Korea. I have one of those bodies that don't need much to run on, I gain muscle very quickly and lose it very very slowly, but also I gain weight at a steady weight as well.

There is something to be said about balance, but it depends what you want to achieve. I think when it comes to Olympic level athletes, their lives are not very balanced either, but its very regimented. I want to be more than great, I want to be the world's best at what I do, and that requires not to be balanced. Every since major CEO will make the same speech to MBA's about how they wish they had more balance, but if they did well then they wouldn't be making that speech as the CEO. But point taken in any case.

That being said, I am a bit older, I'm not just going to throw myself at this blindly, I am far more regimented in my approach, but that being said, do I think I'll be a healthy balanced person at the end of this process. No. I will need sometime to recover also getting myself into this intense mode makes me a pretty unsympathetic guy (I've already told my wife twice to please stop asking me anything for the rest of the day). Do I expect to burn out, to be perfectly honestly, no, not this time.

Why is this the exception?, because this really is where I really want to be career and ambition wise. While I have investors, they've given me enough freedom to do what I see fit and that was always a constraint in my previous job.

I enjoy input, I'm not infallible, but a lot people when they get higher up in a big corporate are running scared every day. I hate that and I hate when the fear of others affects my ability to make a decision. But, here I am with everything I've ever really wanted in this opportunity at the age of 36, the prime composition of my experience and youth to do something great in business, and I find that I worked hard when I was an entry level nothing. And I don't want to regret that I didn't put my everything into it, right now. Thing is, effort alone isn't ever enough and I know as well, willing yourself alone will lead to burn out.

That being said, thanks for the luck, will need it and I think it's work for myself, it does make that difference.

"Now for the most part, its obvious if the promotion is correlated,"

Dave hyung I think you mean to use the word "causal". Ie. It's important to know whether the investment in marketing and subsequent growth is actually causal or merely correlated; which is what you meant to say I think.

Also Dave hyung, get super big, big enough to do a IPO!!!

I don't think youre approaching nutrition the right way not to mention shin ramen loaded with salt and fat(They are fried noodles man).

How about cook up 14 chicken breasts on monday or sunday and microwave them for lunch and dinner with something simple(slices of veggies, salad) and workout more

I also have to be one of the only people reading who cant stand how business people think and do things because no one posts negative comments in your threads.

Ah, nutrition isn't my goal or losing weight as much as simply limited my food intake and when I eat shin ramen, I feel like I'm a desperate student again. I've tried the entire chicken breast thing, not for me, I'd rather just some yogurt instead of all that blandness.

I there were negative comments here and there, but I normally thoroughly respond to all comments, good or bad, but I think most people enjoy getting exposed to some side of business that is a bit more of an insider's view. But for me, business is about the ultimate form of modern social competition and I'm more attracted to the strategy side of things than actual cash.

I actually didn't study business until very late, did political theory/english lit and then grad school in theology and the main reason why business attracted me is that when I do make money, I can do whatever I want with it (within in reason), if I want to build a library in my wife's name or build an orphanage then I don't need to petition or ask anyone to help me, I can just do it myself and ultimately, that is what I'd like to do; not be a philanthropist but have the immediate ability to help with my own money whenever I wanted. ^^

While I'm not a businessman, my dad is a pretty successful one. Him and his brother started a company from scratch in the 80s and are now the largest restaurant equipment dealer in the southwest US. Twice a year, he takes 2 days off work. He doesn't eat, just drinks tea, and reflects on the status of his company and family and what direction they are headed in. He does a lot of meditation and turns off the internet/tv and everything and I think this is a small reason why he has stayed on track all these years. I doubt he had the liberty to take all that time off when he was just starting up as he was A MACHINE which you have to be but I'm sure he took time to step back and take in the whole picture early on.

In any case, MightyAtom hwaiting!

Good luck and hope that you will reach your goal. Your posts give a small clue to a different (not neccesarily better) lifestyle. I'm just wondering what type of work a bussiness man does, like how does your day looks like.
I could imagine a lot of meetings, phone calls, reading stuff, but that is probably just the tip of the iceberg.

@ThePurist ^^ yes U of T Knox College
@Impervious trying ^^ getting there, at 116.7 kg today (from 121.2 3 days ago)
@ZeaL. Thank you,for sharing that, it really did give me inspiration
@smuft *kiss*
@Regression: depends, when I was a corporate executive: lots of reporting, budget meetings, and signing stuff and yelling at people. New firm, spend a couple of days trying to figure out wtf needs to be done properly, then working non-stop in trying to implement it for a couple weeks straight, then repeat, then review, and keep at it. I find if I slow down a bit and stop to think about the entire situation, I may just gg, so I don't think about it, just focus on the goal and keep my expectations realistic.

I'll share with you a story about my business. My friend and I started a gaming store in Baltimore, MD named Xanadu Games (http://xanadu-games.com). This project would be our gateway into being business owners, the store will tell us do we have what it takes to make it in business. If we can't run a very simple "brick and mortar" store then we should not be doing this. We were able to start up with a small budget of 35k and we've been through a lot of bumps on the way but we are slowly on our way to becoming profitable. 2011 has been profitable for us so far, we are on our way to building our cash cushion and paying back debt.

For all of you guys out there aspiring to own your own business and have your money make money for you. My advice is simply, "it's better to say I tried and failed than I didn't try at all". Business is not simple but all you have to do is either come up with a new idea or make an existing idea better.

To get un-fat:
Cardio is the most important thing for any person. It will help you with a healthy heart and shave off your fat. I recommend the Elliptical machine, it's the least boring and burns a few more calories than the standard treadmill. The elliptical is sort of like a stair master but it won't have an impact on your knees that running gives you in the long term. You can also setup a tv or bring your laptop and stream something while you do your workout to make it less boring. You want to aim to maintain 100 strides per minute, if you can do over 110, you are not putting enough resistance. If you aren't sweating then you are not putting enough resistance. You want to gradually make your way to 30 mins, start with a 5 min warm up at a light resistance then go into your normal resistance. If you can get yourself to do this everyday for 30 min, you'll be in great shape in no time.
My better is better than your better

@Skylegend, Got out of the weeds finally lol- its 8:41am in Korea now, been working nonstop since yesterday 6am I need to sleep.
@Zona, & Ghardo: don't think, just get out a sheet of paper, write out the top 6 tasks, and just do it one by one.
@Kusuki: nice write up, good to see you're slogging it through and coming out on top, and I agree with you--- I give up on being fit, I use to be an international level (or almost) rugby player, I just don't want to be so fat that I feel like a slob when I'm working, but my health has improved heaps because I'm not drinking a bottle of whiskey every two days ^^

I will not stop until these are done, no matter how sick, how much I want to say I don't need to go so full out, I will get what I want or die trying, I know, reality check, if I don't go this hardcore, I simply won't make it. That's the reality of the position I have put my family in at the cost of my ego. If I'm going to be a selfish egotistical fuck, then I'd better be a successful selfish egotistical fucker.
