Greetings!![[image loading]](http://img534.imageshack.us/img534/3521/testestk.jpg) Update: The raffle is over! Thanks everyone for participating. The winners are chaokel (Caesar 3) and drooL (Baldur's Gate 2).
Over the months here on TL I've apparently somehow managed to write a whopping 1.000 posts. I've always enjoyed reading and writing on message boards but thought this kind of involvement was a thing of my past; thankfully, TL has proven me wrong.
Browsing TL now makes up a major part of my online time, since it's not only the excellent SC2 content that draws me to this site. It's all the creative community interaction, it's discussions on current global events, on hardware, music, books - you name it. TL has become one my main sources of information, and I'm glad I'm part of this community. My intentions for all future posts of mine is to become a better poster. I've found that a (too) large part of my input is criticism; sometimes it's valid, sometimes it's not neccessary and every now and then I find myself arguing just for the sake of it. I hope I'll manage to improve .).
So, first things first: Thank you. To the staff, who do an awesome job of maintaining this site and moderating the forums. To the TLAF'Liquid players, who entertain me to no end and have me rooting for them every time they play. And of course to every single member of the community, for helping with making this site what it is.
The first attempt at contributing more to this community is what probably brought you to this thread: The giveaway. I've spent so much time on this site and had so much fun that I found it's time to give something back.
What can you get?
I'm a huge fan of classic games and have a nice little collection of games over at Good Old Games - GOG. Fallout, Baldur's Gate, Freespace, Myst and many more, they're all there. I'd like to share this passion, so I'll be gifting either one 9,99$ game or two 5,99$ games to the lucky winner.
How can you get it?
Post in this thread, drop a line why you think TL is awesome, and then name the game(s) from the GOG catalogue you'd like to have. If there's a sale going on for the game(s) you're interested in, I might give out an additional game to a second winner. This is how your post could look like:
+ Show Spoiler +Example: I think TL is awesome because: I enjoy seeing Manifesto on banning rampages in LR threads. Game(s) I'm interested in: Planescape Torment (9,99$)
The winner will be decided by a RNG selecting one of the post numbers. I'll probably let this run until this friday's evening (March 18th), unless interest in this thread is extraordinarily over- or underwhelming. I'll post updates in this thread when they happen, and winner(s) will be contacted via PM.
Any restrictions?
Anyone can participate, as long as you've at least been a member for a month (> 14.02.2011).
Anything else?
I'd like to close this post with the following video I found in the Youtube thread, the comment on which was actually the real post #1000 (this here is #1001). It's an awesome cover of an awesome song that has always managed to make me smile, and maybe you'll enjoy it as well.
+ Show Spoiler +
Thanks for reading, and good luck ! I hope my next 1.000 here will be just as enjoyable.

Wow, thats very nice of you =).
Why TL is great: because of things like this. It more than just a community discussing games but rather the sense of belonging and being united. Its like if you meet a fellow TLer in real-life you kinda know you'll get along =).
Games interested in?: Haha, let me know if I win and maybe we can talk about it. I'm not sure right now XD.

Pretty generous
I love TL, i find myself constantly browsing it for not only as a source of news about the professional gamers that i enjoy following, but for the community (generally ) which share the same passions/thoughts as me.
As for a game: Caesar 3 for $5.99
and if i win i'd ask you reroll for another $5.99 winner rather than get another game.

TL is awesome because it is mostly made up of people like this, and not the big mad shout heads that you see spree in all the popular threads, they are the pest plants that get weeded out by the fantastic mods. + Show Spoiler +don't know a game yet, I own most of the games they have
EDIT: The poor guy below, my heart bleeds, for you do not know the wonders and the beauty of BG2.
I hope you win

congrats fella! and thanks for the nice raffle :D
i think TL is awesome because it brough a whole new facette and aspect to my life over the last year and i love it <3
i'd be interested in Baldur's Gate II (9.99$) because it's said to be legendary and I haven't played it yet
|
That's very generous of you!
drooL be careful with Baldur's Gate II. Despite what fans will say, the engine hasn't aged well, and nostalgia goes a long way in making that game what it is.
Fallout I and II on the other hand aged really well. They might even use the same engine, but Fallout is turn based so it's less of a cluster fuck.

Thats so nice of you~
TL is awesome because we still manage to have a passionate BW community with the resurgence of BW streamers and iccup tourneys despite the overwhelming popularity of sc2 here.
As for a game: Ive been looking at Planescape:Torment ($9.99)
|
I <3 TL simply because it's the best gaming community I've ever come across. The mods handle trolls with an iron fist and there is always something interesting to read.
I've been thinking about picking up Planescape:Torment for a while now as well ^^...Once I finish DA2 and replay BG2 it's next on my list.
|
I love TL because of all of those people new to BW thinking the Power Rank has relevance and actually take it seriously. They are cute.
Another thing i like is how i can just hide all the sc2 forum tabs, the tech support, the fan clubs and the TL community one and can never ever think about them again. ^_^
Game(s) I'm interested in: I'd like to have the original Fallout for 6 bucks and let some Dragon Age or Oblivion fan have Fallout 2.

Whats that supposed to mean KasPra?

I love Team Liquid because I do not need to go to any other website anymore because I can get it all here. If something big happens in the world, it will be posted here. If there is a stupid video that is hilarious and makes me lose brain cells, I will see it here first. But the best part is definately that at any hour of the day whether it's 9 in the morning or 3am, there is always a stream or Vod to watch or a tournament to read up on. No other site can give what Team Liquid gives, and for that, I love thee.
Game(s): I would have to say Myst, or Riven: A Sequal to Myst. A friend always would talk about playing those games and how incredibly challenging they were, so I'd really like to try em out.
Gratz on 1,000! ^ ^

Grats man! Great way to give back to the community. Cheers!
I think TL is awesome because: Freedom of expression but with reasonable moderation, lack of powertrips and insane dedication to the community from the mods and the latter applies to many users as well (clearly ;D).
Game(s) I'm interested in: Baldur's Gate 2 Complete

They're both great games. I have to disagree with Lexpar though about BG2 not having aged well. It has, and it's still the pinnacle of cRPG gaming (in my opinion). It has superior graphics and interface compared to Planescape, and better input/control mechanics than Fallout. Then again I don't want to downrate those either, since Planescape easily has the best cRPG story ever, and Fallout has the best enviroment/world of them all.
If you're unsure which of the classic and "legendary" RPGs to get, then get Baldur's Gate 2. Or even better, buy BG1+BG2+Xpacks and use some fan patches. You can play all of them at once in one huge playthrough these days. There are several fan patches for Planescape as well, fixing resolution issues and various other stuff. Same goes for Fallout iirc, though it's more about general bug fixing there.
Anyway, thanks for the feedback and participating! Keep it coming .

I think TL is awesome because the by far most awesome guys frequent this forum and fill it with lots of absolutely great content. Yes, there are problems because many people don't post anything worthwhile of reading, but no matter in which thread you look, you'll always easily find posts from the smart guys and that makes it an awesome experience. Whenever I don't play something, I read TL.net.
Game: Freespace 2

Thank you for your generous giveaway :D
I think that TL is amazing because it offers unmatched quality on a lot of threads compared to any other forum without being too serious and just becomes a pure flame. It is filled with threads not only relating to BW or SC2, but other games, breaking news and issues in the world, and other hobbies/interests people may have. The people are also more intellectual and not just a bunch of cocky people who are all talk but no walk. Even though I have taken numerous long breaks from 'playing' starcraft, I always go to this site because there is always something to read and entertain myself with. The community for TL for a forum i think is unmatched, whenever i randomly meet someone who plays starcraft well, they know about TL. It is also a great place to find support for streamers because it is very easy to spot and user friendly to see and view it. They are also highly involved in the competitive scene with some foreign pros posting a reply or 2 here and there. Whenever I open a new tab in my browser, it lists my most frequently visited sites. It is no surprise to me that Teamliquid.net is actually my most visited site, right behind gmail and facebook.
game: Planescape Torment

Why I love TL:
The blog section. It's such an outspring of personal emotions and experience. Every day I visit the TL blog section and read something new and amazing to draw my attention to it. The sheer variety and cultural difference from young to old and people from all over the world makes this to me, by far, the most interesting feature of Team Liquid.
You don't have to be a fan of Starcraft, or any games for that matter to appreciate the effort put into the blog section. No matter what you fancy, you're always guaranteed to find something that pique your interest every single day!
Game I'd love to try : Icewind Dale ($9.99)
|
A little bump for this thread, as I'd like more people to have a chance in the raffle, and since I don't know if I'll be able to check back here until tomorrow evening due to work issues.
|
TL is awesome because of all the bw streams and the small Vod thread and because it is always nice to play some RACE WARS or BGH with people from TL. There are also some really interesting threads in General and sometimes i wonder if TL isn't better than the average newspaper. And then of course the blogs for my daily dose of lulz !
Game i'd like to try: Damn so many... i guess i will pick Icewind Dale 2
