1) Samsung ftw. My camera broke due to a faulty component, so they shipped me a replacement that cost twice as much, is really cool, really small, and frickin awesome. Even comes with software to do that cheesy japanese style photoboothing. Epic.
2) I know one graduate from my hs who is a member here, and like 6 people in my class. o.o And one guy a year behind me. It would be awesome to all wear tl shirts or something. But then I got to thinking that on wednesday we have these lame lame lame career days, in which some sorry twit comes and talks about their profession. It would be real funny to have a semi-pro progamer come and talk about that. Wouldn't happen, but funny to talk about. Anyways, next year I figure I'll make a TLnet club for the hell of it; SC2 has expanded the popularity so much there actually is a market, and if I present it at clubfair it could be quite awesome. Just getting way ahead of myself. Not sure how to go abou it though.
3)HOLY SHIT 234 I"M A NATIONAL MERIT SEMIFINALIST WOOTWOOT. Yay. yay. Mom was like "but your'e still doing shitty in school blah blah blah" and I just didn't listen and was like woot woot :D Finished all my hw for today. Ought to prep for a DBQ but I sense an early bedtime in my future.
4) Mom keeps on threatening to not let me take the driving test which is in three days. Not sure how it will actually work out. Certainly hope I can get my license --> awesome.
5) Called a parent abuse hotline on tip from friend. They said I could file a police report cause it's bad enough, but I ended up not doing so and just talking to a counselor. They said to just ignore her, and try and be reasonable.

DBQ = document based question = shitty essay done in AP classes
NMSQT = test to qualify for national merit
National merit qualifies you to fill out a long ass form to get a big scholarhip. Most importantly it just looks good on apps lol.

There are verbal abuse provisions. Generally the police won't run to your house if you call verbal abuse, but you can certainly file suit over it.

I barely made National Merit by one point. Luckily, that one point has really helped making college a tad cheaper for me. Hopefully, you'll also get some awesome scholarships.

apply to USC with a NMF and you'll get a halftuition scholarship if you are accepted to the university (worth around $20,000 a year), plus you get your $1,000 from the foundation.

Depends on the school. Oklahoma University and Texas A&M offered me full rides just from being a National Merit finalist, though I didn't bother applying to them. Up until two years ago, the University of Texas at Austin offered a pretty nice scholarship.
Most lower-tier and quite a few mid-tier schools offer generous scholarships or even full rides for National Merit. Upper-tier and Ivy League generally offer sucky National Merit scholarships, probably because they get so many Finalists anyways.
I'm getting $2000 a year at my upper-tier school. Any scholarship is better than no scholarship.

And if you go to their interview thingy at "explore USC" you can probably get another $15k a year.

Congratulations on becoming a Semifinalist, though the actual scholarships doesn't amount to a very large number. As a Finalist with a score of 237 on my PSAT, I received $2000 per semester, IIRC. Don't let it get to your head, either, because it doesn't take much to lose that scholarship.
Try not to let your mother get to you. Towards the latter stages of high school, a lot of Asian moms turn into slave drivers. Just tough it out until you get to college, where time away from family will do wonders.

Don't party too hard, though. Too much Proleague and GSL killed my sleep cycle and my grades. Consequently, the past winter break was not very pleasant when I came home to angry Asian parents.

How do you become a finalist now? I'm not even sure. They haven't announced who is a semi finalist yet, even though ith asn't been announced it was 219 this year, 234 should be fine.
