Hello TL people! Name is Xes and heres my story:
In my school we have to do a project of some sort, any sort, and basically write a diary about our progress. My project? Get into Diamond League in Sc2! :D

So i started of a bit and wrote some stuff down until i realized i can write it all hereon TL! Easily accessible to my teacher from anywhere, AND get feedback from awesome people while doing it! :D Ill try to post what has happened during the day every day just before i go to sleep and ill try to include all replays i get, highlighting ones i have questions about and just putting the others up if anyone wants to watch.

This is a big project for me and i would be forever grateful it if people tried to help me

Sooo... for anyone still reading, interested in helping a fellow newbie, heres some basic info on me!
Im 18 cold winters old living in Sweden. I never played Sc1 and when Sc2 came out i played protoss for a little while. I played some league matches, got into silver league and with the score of 5/8 wins i had yeasterday, i switched to zerg! :D after i switched i have played 4 custom games and 3 league games and lost all of them. And i love zerg more than ever XD

I really like the Sc2 community, having played a bit of other e-sports and they being full of jerks, the Sc2 community are really awesome and i really really hope people will find this because it would be awesome to get just a tiny tiny bit of feedback every day so that i can really improve and some day reach my full potential.

Signing out, full of hope! (and tiny zerglings!!)
//Xeslaro! :D

Seeing as you're from Sweden, I assume you okay on the EU servers right? I would offer a little in-game help by I'm on the NA servers unfortunately :/

I think that as HuskyMUDKIPZ said we'll be happy to analyze some replays, and since you are that new to zerg you might want to watch some tutorials to get the very basics for yourself done. For me it was easy to get from bronze to diamond with just going 14gas 13pool 21 hatch as often as possible, it's pretty stable against protoss and terran, even though you might want to delay the expansion against zerg.

Also hotkey your units, and find an effective way to spawn larvae. I like to use 5 for hatcheries, 6 for main+queen, 7 for natural+queen etc. That way you can go 66V *click* 77V*click* 88V*click* and for making units it's just 5SDDDDDDDD. It doesn't get any easier. When you get one relatively easy BO rather well learnt you can then start to work on everything else. Just play like crazy and you'll easily shoot off to diamond, we are pretty bad there.

I just switched from toss to zerg, i got both NA and EU acc and just started to ladder on the NA-server as zerg, just promoted myself to diamond with a little help from tQdrOne, i would'nt mind helping you on your progress when i'm online at the EU-server, send me a PM if you are intrested, and btw, i am swedish too

i have been watching a bit of day9 so i got some form of basic zerg in my head. the games ive played as of yet have been 16 hatch 16 pool, hatches on 1, queens on 2 and larva inject through minimap. but theres still the lack of experience and the fact that i just dont know what to do >.< well youll all see when i get some replays up how should i upload them btw? put them on some site and put up links?

Usually, unless you make a "replay pack", you can just host them on a website such as gamereplays.org
there are plenty of sc2 replay sites, you just have to find one that you feel comfortable uploading too.

hmmm... single replays for spesific games where something special happened and packs for the rest of the games from the day?

Sounds like a good idea. Those specific games would be games you would either be confused about why you lost, or even why you won. For example:
I recently played a game against a protoss player as zergie. I scouted that he was walling in with cannons so I thought "might as well expand". I expanded and had a huge economy lead, eventually the game comes down to him being multiple bases behind me. For some reason his "X" unit ended up just wiping out my "Y" unit base army, what did I do wrong?
Make sure you do some self analysis first, try to show us your thought path when analyzing by posting your analysis, then ask for some help. Usually someone will be able to point out flaws and give you some advice.

Exactly what i was thinking!
also, i watched some day9 videos and he commented on how "this player is already dead, but when he watches the replay, he will think he died at this point when he didnt". i think that episode of day9 was the main thing that got me to do this blog

Oh and btw, I would really like your teachers thought about your choise of subject and the way you did it. If you are after some good grades, this feels kinda risky ^^

one of my teachers plays Sc2, thats why the idea passed ^^ also, the grading is based soley on the "diary" and not the "end-product" so tbh i dont even need to get into gold as long as i spend a minimum of 100 hours doing it and documenting it well >.<

god, im so exited people are this nice ^^
gonna play some games now, reps coming up in a couple of hours! :D

Hahah you lucky guy. Although now that you have started this thread, you got to get to diamond! ^^ And btw, don't be mad at cheesers. Learn how to beat them and enjoy whenever you see a pylon in your base, it will make it a lot easier on you mentally.

You are doing this as your project in the third year? Seriously!? That's awesome!:D My school forced me to do something science related that should "produce new knowledge"...
When it comes to learning sc2 I would say the following; Learn to macro good first (making drones, drone saturation, larva inject, expanding when money gets too high, etc). Build orders are imo not as important in leagues below diamond, solid macro alone will get you to platinum if not lower diamond.

Good learning resources:

Day[9]tv - especially watch the one about drone timing, but there are a lot of other good ones as well (dont just watch the zerg-specific ones)

Psy - lots of commented high level zerg games (also check out his tips&tricks videos for good micro tips)

mrbitter - lessons about the 3 different matchups (ZvT, ZvP, ZvZ) with MrBitter, inControl and Machine (perhaps not very useful for learning early basics)

Good luck. Be diligent with your traning and most important of all, don't write your daily logs "later" (trust me, it will never be done).

EDIT: Oh and btw, I'm in Diamond like 2000ish.
