Thought I'd share my bit of feedback - after troubles to schedule with each other (he being from US, me being from EU), We finally got to doing the session - Geoff was actually quite patient and helpful all the time. This was my first session with him, which made me kind of anxious about it, will explain it in a bit.

First thing, as a beginner, Geoff gave me a build order against each MU; me not being familiar with the ones he shared with me gave me something to work on. First, he showed me each single build against AI; and then went to demonstrate those against other students of his, so I'd get a glimpse how it works in actual situation. Of course, nothing is set in stone, SC2 is about being to adapt to opponent and all that, but the message was clear - to give me a way to utilize these builds against each MU; until I am perfectly comfortable with those. After showing me these builds against actual players, I was going to try and execute the builds myself, against the AI... honestly, I've never lost against medium AI :'))) - though, it was me being unfamiliar with the build as well as kind of being nervous about my first session at work, so I guess Geoff had hard time working with me here - and despite that, he was there, through with me, making sure I do my best to focus at the stuff at hand. Admittedly, I felt really ridiculous, because normally I don't screw up as badly as I did in the games and it somewhat stopped me - but I have something to work with, which is good.

By the end of session, he made sure that I know I can turn on him and ask for advice/help even off the clock. Overally, he's nice guy to listen to, he knows what he's talking to; and once his student, he'll be here to help out.

I'm getting another lesson scheduled with Geoff; he's helpful, he understands the mindset behind the game and the difficulties people and mainly me might have...I hope I didn't give you too much sweat, get well soon.

PS: Anyone who's not concerned, don't flame/troll this blog. Doing it for my personal reference and to give some feedback to Geoff. Thank you.

A good tip for practicing build orders vs the AI is to treat is like you're facing a real person and not neglect scouting and stuff like that. It's not for countering the AI's build order, but making scouting a habit.

Well, I emailed gosu coaching for coaching and they forwarded my email to incontrol (during the time he went to korea). When he got back, he said he was going to answer coaching emails. Never got a reply back...so whatever.

Awesome, inc. seems like a really nice and down to earth guy. a really good member of the community. How much did you pay for coaching? Is it by the hour or by the lesson?

Hah didn't know TL.net was also a place to get taught spelling.
Can't complain though...

I like to read about this a lot since im considering coaching but i think id benefit more from it when i have better mechanics.

Actually... My mechanics are not bad for beginner; at least I'd like to think so.. and I can tell that I screwed up so badly only because I was trying new stuff. I had to think about it too much as to how to do it right and it was slowing me down. Generally, the more sure I am about the stuff I am about to do, the less I'm slowed down on its execution. Now, don't take me for granted, like I said, I'm in process of learning and all, but the initial very early openings are better to be memorized so you don't need to actively think about it. You only 'pick' the opening (for lack of better wording) based on what you scout in opponent's base. But if you have little to no idea what you are doing, it'll simply stuff your head to the point that your macro and all that simply goes all out of the window. It totally happened to me during the session and I admit I felt so embarrassed, but that's not the point, obviously. It gave me stuff to work on and think about.

As for the questions - if I missed anyone, just poke me, it's past 5 am and I'm kind of tired, I swear I'd not be able to build a single pylon right now.. :-P Geoff charges per hour, offering discounts for people, who decide to get multiple sessions. I got myself a bunch, because I knew that just one session wouldn't be enough and I can say I don't regret that decision. I just hope Geoff will be able to bare with me without it feeling completelly awkward... because I think that teaching someone inexperienced may be actually harder than to work with someone, who's got all the stuff down like second nature.

Listen to the commandments yo

Use English, and please make at least a moderate attempt to spell check and type coherently. It doesn't matter how brilliant or insightful your posts are if nobody can understand them.

Also, great to hear this. ^_^ It sounds great that Inc is available even outside your session for some tips and stuff. That's just good service man. :p

According to the ban list he was banned for not sufficiently waiting out his previous ban.
