So the TSL 2 thread inspired me to load Broodwar back up, and hit the iCCup ladder. After a quick /clearstats yes, I had a nice fresh pallet on which to paint my enemy's blood. I thought that SC2 had made me weak, and unable to keep up with it's older, more demanding brother.
I was pleased to be wrong. So far I've gone 5-1 :D, holding a solid 1570. I'm so happy to actually have a >50% record. Anyways, to celebrate I thought I'd try my hand at a battle report!

Well, not the most exciting game (no stove ), but I was quite happy with the result, even though my opponent didn't really feel that good (he's 1686, 15-16 as of writing)- as he threw away a lot of units and didn't take a third for quite a while. The thing I was most happy with was my parry of his vulture harass, I used to die to any sort of pressure where my attention was divided , not this time however!
I'm just happy to be playing BW again, watching TSL 2 again really made me realize how lacking SC2 is at times.

These kinds of posts make me so happy. I would hate to see BW fall to the point of it being difficult/impossible to find a game.
Nice that your skills haven't deteriorated too bad I guess, sounds like sc2 may have even helped in certain areas.
Always great to see people playing/writing/discussing BW.

Sure! I don't mind PvT, I just hate Vultures
Friend me on iCCup or something and just ask for games, I usually am in the op teamliquid channel (another superior aspect of BW lol). I don't know how much I'll be playing though with exams coming up

Yeah, it's always nice to be able to hop in iCCup and find some games!
After the last few games I've come to think you can't actually lose skills by playing SC2. Either game is great practice for the other. The first game back was really bad though :/, pretty much forgot my build, forgot that you had to rally each building individually, forgot that there was no auto-mine, ect. I actually like regular Gateways a lot more than Warpgates- too bad Gateways aren't viable in SC2
But anyways, in the last couple weeks of playing SC2 I was really working on my mini-map vision so that helped a lot. Also, because army positioning is really important in SC2 that's carried over- I get a lot better flanks now. That said, I think my build is pretty bad- I 10/15 gate against both Protoss and Terran. Which is a carry over of when I started out, just grinding one easy build. So I need to work on learning some more builds. I find I just out macro and have better positioning for every win, my only real plan is to deny expansions and play a starvation game, so my average game length is probably like ~25 mins. :/

Heh, I was just playing on iccup last weekend. Despite not having sc2, I had not played for about 2 months. It was amazing how fast I was able to pick it up. I was feeling pretty well just 10 minutes into my first practice game. I think that I'll be playing a bit more in the near future, the game is just so amazingly good.

Well there are about 22 people in Ladder[C] right now and only 2 non afk people, and of those non afk people they can't make, neither can I .

Good job. I haven't been playing for a while. Don't have SC2 though so I did lose some skills, not that I had much anyways I was at best like 1200. :\
Probably going to pick it up again though.
