I have also discovered that it isnt just nerds like me that play this game! There is a livley and enthusiastic community of "Lady Gamers" (As the ESL puts it). I did some casts of games taken from the final of the "ESL Ladies Gaming, Starcraft 2 Cup #2" (and thats a mouthful to say during a cast) between Dzejna and someone called Pikachu (kids searching youtube for their favourite yellow, lightning blasting pokemon will get a surprise if the find my video anyway). Now, I like to give a lot of information out on my casts so I did a little digging into both players. Dzejna is a really good diamond player, is diamond in almost every league and plays very well. Pikachu is not your regualr player. Her real name is Linda Liao, and if you google her you get a lot. Really a lot. She has sung and produced 2 albums, starred in 5 tv shows, hosts the weekly MTV top 20 show and twice been voted in the top 20 sexyiest women in the world in the singapore edition of FHM (2nd and 19th for those interested). So like I said, not your average gamer. I think its really cool that famous people enjoy the things that I love. I have no problem with people thinking im a nerd, god I've lived with that since I was at school. But I hope that it makes other people that dont play the games I love or do the things I enjoy the ability to put aside their preconceptions aside and jump in. I've seen (and im not too manly to say that I got a little emotional over) the 100th Day[9] Daily, where Shaun tells his viewers how he convinced his peers and family that what he was doing was a good thing. Its partially down to watching that, that I started casting. Going back to my point, having people that the average man/woman/child on the street look's up to and admires or simply thinks are cool, doing the things that I think are cool is awesome. Other examples of famous people having the same hobbies as I do, or did, are Vin Diesel - who wrote the foreword on one of the AD&D books and was an avid player at one time, and Jessica Simpson, who apparently plays (or played) World of Warcraft.
So my week has given me a lot of surprises, all good which is nice. Im hoping that every week can be like this.
