Ghost151 helped me solve it, it was an episode of twilight zone after all, just a different one.
Thanks Ghost151, and also thanks everyone else that tried to help me.
Edit: Another request from thread.

Hopefully I did this right, but it turns out that in the end that the wife of the character played by Clint Eastwood is the murderer

I am trying to remember a story, sci-fi, a plane takes off under normal everyday conditions, but ends up landing in the past. (like several decades in the past)
I think it happened in new-england area, but i'm not sure on that.
I also think I remember a cold-war sub-plot where the characters on the plane were suspected of being russian spies on some futuristic spy plane, but that might be from something else as well. (I watch/read a lot of sci-fi, and in my memories sometimes similar stories kinda combine in weird ways)
Before you say it, it is neither The Langoliers by Stephen King or the "Nightmare at 20,000 feet" Twilight Zone episode, but those two come up every time I try to search for it.
I am thinking it might have been a Kurt Vonnegut/Kilgore Trout short story, but I seem to remember it having a much more serious tone than most things by Vonnegut, so I doubt it.
Infinite walrus love to anyone that can point me in the right direction.
And just so this thread isn't a total waste, I've been thinking of making a thread about the following but never got around to it.
Do any of you have weird rituals when you need time to think?
I have found that when I am in the midst of a major life decision/need a break from studying for exams, I like to get in my car and just drive until I get lost, and then find my way back. I'm talking like hour long expeditions with no other goal in mind than to get lost. Am I weird, or do others do this? Do you do anything else weird to clear your mind? (also if there is not enough time to do that sometimes I just mindlessly drive but not enough to get lost.)
I'm not even sure if it was a movie or a book or what it was. I'm leaning towards book but only because I think i've read more sci-fi than I've watched.

Currently combing through the list, thanks keNn)
Wow I'm surprised you can't even narrow it down to being a movie or a book. Is that because of the type of thinker/memorizer you are, or do you just have such an incredibly vague recollection? Perhaps you don't remember reading/watching it at all but only remember your reaction to it afterwards?
I have one very distinct memory of it, I remember a plane coming to land, but someone remarks that the lights are off that are supposed to be alongside the landing strip, which is weird. Then the air-traffic controller is unfamiliar with the type of plane they are in, and doesn't know what a jet is. I don't remember if they even land or not.
On November 21 2010 13:10 Ftrunkz wrote: Shawshank redemption?
I'm going to guess that this isn't it since shawshank redemption did not have a plane take off and land in another time period. After all, that is the primary pre-requisite for being the correct answer.
Why in God's name did you pick Shawshank redemption lol

Was it that movie where jets take off from a supercarrier from the 90's or some shit and end up in World War 2 with propeller planes everywhere and people freaking out?

If blogs i'm gonna wait a day because it feels unfair for one person to have two blogs active simultaneously.
As for the final countdown, that movie looks awesome, but unfortunately it isn't it. Idk, now I'm starting to doubt that I am remembering it correctly...maybe my mind fused langoliers with something else?

Wasn't there an episode of Torchwood which was sort of the opposite of this? A female pilot from the 20s or whatever went through some kind of sci-fi warp and ended up in the present.
There was also an episode of uh, Star Trek: Voyager I think? Which as I recall matched the description quite well.

I'm pretty sure that was a DS9 episode. Since I distinctly remember Quark and his brother being in it (Quark tries to sell some technology to the Americans and threatens to go to the Russians if they refuse, not knowing who the Russians are).

Ah, you are probably right. There is a somewhat similar episode of Voyager but with a different time period and more of an evil corporation bent. My first instinct was to say Voyager because I never really followed DS9.

Hmm, that sounds very similar to the ending of Planet of the Apes... But regardless of how forgetful one may be, I'm sure you would've... you know... recalled the sight talking apes dressed in standard US police uniform.
Other than that, I have no clue, but I too am curious as to what movie you're referring to.
Lemonwalrus, I hope you don't mind if I ask a question of my own in here rather than opening a thread.
This has been killing me for weeks now, I even went through those wikipedia lists several times to no end. there's a pilot (as in he's a passenger on the plane) that remarks something about the "feeling of speed" or "acceleration" or something to that effect, I remember that part distinctly.

Omfg you are my hero...i love you so much. I completely forgot about the first part where they go back in time to dinosaurs, but the second half is exactly what I was remembering.

I don't mind at all, since mine has been resolved I put yours in the op to help it get more views. (unfortunately I'm not familiar with it myself.)
Hmmm...do you guys think there is a market for a 'help eachother remember movies/stories' thread, or would it get pushed down too quick to be of use to anybody?

We should probably cover the more obvious bases first. You sure it's not Megaman NT Warrior?

yup thats it . Its been so long I totally zoned out on the fact that there was a whole squad. Thanks for the help, now off to search the internet for streaming !
I mentioned this to my dad (the 'twilight zone segment where a plane takes off in 1961 and ends up back in time') and my dad was like "oh yeah, I remember seeing that live" LOL
Since this thread is pretty recent and TL has done such a great job ID-ing the movies/shows, I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out which movie Clint Eastwood is in where he is suspected as the killer (not Bloodwork)... I tried looking it up on imdb, but for some reason couldn't find it/ recognize the title
Edit: I feel kind of silly now but the movie I was thinking of starred Harrison Ford and not Clint Eastwood and is titled "Presumed Innocent"
