Ive never actually written a blog before. I dont "do" Myspace or Facebook. Ive never "Twitted" or tweeted or whatever the hell is the correct phrase for it either. Its not that im a technophobe or a ludite, im not at all. I am frequently blown away by the advances in the modern world (christ I sound old here), 3D tv, a car that can run on the chemical bonding of hydrogen and oxygen, a lazer show on a 600 year old clock in prague (seriously youtube this, it is incredible)... All of these things have filled me with a sense of wonder and joy that I can only assume that the first people that saw fire felt.
So if you google my real name you probably wont find a whole lot out about me. Mostly because I generally feel that I have little to say that others apart from close friends and family would be interested in. All that changed a while ago when I got infected by something highly contagious. A passion for something. It started out as just something fun, then as I dove deeper and deeper into it, I discovered that this simple, small, thing that I liked had a huge following. A following that crossed a language barrier, that brought people from all walks of life, from countries all over the world together because of their love for this one small thing. Going deeper still I managed to find others that had a passion that not only matched mine, but that they also had a desire to spread that passion to as many people as possible. For once I felt that I might actually have something that people I had never met before might want to hear about.
So, I got myself a copy of Fraps, a trial copy of Sony Vegas, plugged in my headset and began to talk. And let me tell you, it is a lot harder to do this than I thought it would be. Im no stranger to public speaking. In my time I have been involved in management and at one point even wrestled professionally. So talking to a crowd is really easy for me. Talking to a computer screen, all alone, is not. It is however, an incredibly rewarding experience. It might take me many takes to produce something that I'm happy with, but oh boy, when I have, and its finished, it is a wonderful feeling.
So to anyone out there that feels a passion for anything, dont sit quiet about it. Learn what I have from this, if you find something you love - shout about it. Someone will want to hear what you have to say.
If you want to hear me shouting, you can find me doing it on www.youtube.com/siegestarcraft . If you have any comments about it at all let me know here, on my channel or email me ( siegestarcraft@hotmail.co.uk ), I want to discuss what I'm doing with other people that share the same feeling's I do.
