Sweet production put on by gosucoaching.com. Props to Russalo and the guys over at iccup for hosting and getting this night set up! And congrats to liquid.tyler for taking home the $400 prize pool.

Of course, I practice a ton of zvt and some pvt, then I roll 2 tvt's vs lzgamer. I need a re-match! I got noobed by the commentators also. They though I was bringing 6 scvs off the line to my natural to kill off a scout. But in reality it was to fake an all in scv/marine rush. I was going to then try to beat him to air. But he was already doing a proxy 2 rax expand, which basically hard counters my fake, and i had terrible reaction time in crisis management. It would be sweet to have more showcase matches with coaches and other good players!

The Idra-Nony matches were "bleh." Nony fans can get excited since he 3-1'd the gracken. But it seemed like idra didn't have much heart into the match as we seem him with big tournaments. including a quick gg after seeing 2 vrs, without any attempt to try to get some hero queens and see if he can fend it off. He has always been reluctant playing on us servers due to the korean lag compounding with the already present bnet lag. nony played pretty aggressive throughout most of the matches, and some might argue that that was just proof of his lack of practice, and just wanted to end games as fast as he can. But in his defense, he just wanted idra to play his game, instead of sitting and getting into a macro game where we all know idra is a beast.

The LZgamer beat down actually helped. I havn't really laddered seriously much this past week or so. And I tore through the ladder with a nice winstreak, pushing me up higher on the ELO-based Random Players rank. I think I need some steady practice partners so I can actually practice builds. All in all, a great night of sc2, and I can't wait for another Gosucoaching hosted night.

I hate it when people do this. "He wasn't really trying" Give some credit to Nony, Nony didn't make any mistakes, he was able to capitalize on Idra's.

+ Show Spoiler +
Game 1 - Idra did a quick poke before establishing his spine contain, thinking his roach speed would allow him to pull back. But he lost 1/3 of his roaches to Nony's quick response of FFs and decided to just screw it all and go all-in. That being said, I think Idra's build order was nice, 13 roaches + speed + fast creep for spine contain on close positions LT ... would've worked really well if he didn't go for the poke.

Game 2 - despite a crisp canon rush execution, Idra held it off decently, having even workers with Nony at that point. Nony probably felt the pressure of not doing enough damage and went for the all-in instead of expanding -- his loss to Idra's just in time defense.

Game 3 - Nony won on build order, simple as that. He saw fast roach speed 2 games in a row, bet on Idra playing the same build order and played the flexible counter. That's metagaming the series for you.

Game 4 - Another crisp build order execution by Nony, a more advanced 2-base 5-gate pre-spire timing attack that can probably transition into blink/templar tech or robo tech depending on what Lair tech Nony sees from Idra on the attack. He just ended up crushing Idra.

Game 5 - This was awesome mind-games by Nony. He delayed building his 2nd and 3rd warpgates until his sentry popped out, as if to hide his build order from Idra's scouting drone, and let Idra see the 3 warpgate right before he killed the scout, and went for stargate. He also placed a pylon by the natural, as if to signal to idra that he was going for 3gate/FE/5gate build just like last game. Idra knew he would be able to crush this on Blistering thanks to the main backdoor, and confidently didn't even go lair and pretty much all-in'ed with lings and roaches to break him. 2 void rays charging up on roaches = GG without evo or lair.

In my view, both players displayed crisp build orders, though Nony seemed more prepared with his greater variation in build orders, and was able to win on the series metagaming. Idra did make one crucial mistake on game 1, but I don't see him making mechanical mistakes in any of the other games. In this series, Nony was the better player, and deserved this win.

The only excuse for idra losing would be that he didn't want to show his full potential/strategics because of MLG. Imo. But it doesn't mean nony can't beat him in any way.

Nony played really well, he showed how you can play against macrobeast zerg like Idra, you can't deny that.

Nony won this time, who knows who will win the next match between these gamers.

Im really tired of people making excuses for idra losing, mostly because I know if the score was the same, but favoring idra people would just be talking about how idra is so much better and Nony got outplayed.

The truth is Nony had some good builds, and great timing attacks, and Idra got out played. Yeah they were short games where there was some good timing attacks, but why would anyone that plays against idra, who is famous for having great macro, let him expand and drone up and not pressure him.

GG Tyler, well done

This isn't a TL discussion thread, let's not try to start arguments. This is how i felt about the night and the series, if you want to express yours, you can make your own blog.

That isn't how blogs work. If people disagree with you they are welcome to post it. This isn't a notepad we get to view. If someone is out of line you can moderate your own blog if you like or the TL moderation staff will take care of it. But saying people can't argue and they have to go make their own blog is not something you can mandate.

So we're only allowed to post if we agree with you?

Doesn't that sort of defeat the point of a forum?

I just assumed that forums were the designated area for heated discussion, and blogs could be more liberal and opinionated. I wasn't trying to make excuses for idra, just sharing some of my thoughts. TBH, i'm not even a huge idra fan.

I just want to avoid any sort of debate club on my blogs, and if the discussion is mature and well mannered, and everyone is respectful of each others opinions, then i welcome it. I just don't want it to be like a bunch of crummy tl threads with baseless facts.

That is all!
