Okay, so ever since I've been able to play in BW Full screen mode again (Windows 7 Freezing Problems fixed), I've had to stream in a lower quality. Back when I streamed in Window Mode, I was able to stream in a 640x480 quality using Procaster, which I thought was pretty excellent. But now, I can't seem to do that anymore, having to resort to stream in 320X240 in order for my stream to not lag and for my game to not be choppy.

I've noticed a lot of BW streamers out there, most notably XsebT, who are able to stream at a 640x480 quality without any choppiness whatsoever. Here's my Speedtest:

I know my Upload speed is low, but I copied the settings that XsebT had exactly and my stream's still choppy. Kiante and he both have the same settings and they don't seem to lag at all. Is Upload speed absolutely that much of a factor in determining my stream quality? Based on my dilemma, is 320x240 the best quality that I can stream in? It'd be nice if my viewers could watch me play in a better quality for their content :/.

wait wtf how'd you fix win7 freezing? i'm still playing windowed mode+magnifier o.O

even though you technically have 440kbit upload in that speed test you probably don't really get that constantly, if you look the video plus the audio is 448 and you probably need to step it down to 300 or 350 something for it to work out. yes upload speed is absolutely that much of a factor. 300 or 350kbit bitrate will look pretty awful, but it's the best you can possibly do, no getting around it.

But even when I set it to low bit rates, the game still consistently seemed to lag and the game seemed choppy.

What cup of joe said. Your game will lag if a) your computer simply doesn't have the specs required to stream, which is quite CPU intensive, as well as run the other programs you have open. b) You still haven't lowered the bitrate enough.

What are your computer specs like? Have you tried streaming JUST audio at a low bitrate like 48kbps while playing BW to ensure it's not the upload that's causing the lag? Have you looked over the log generated from your stream after playing a while to see if it is maintaining the bit rate and FPS that you specified?

I definitely don't think it's because of my specs that I'm lagging. I'm pretty sure that it's my video bit rate that's causing the lag as when I check my log while I'm streaming, it constantly stays at 48kbps. My video bitrate goes all over the place. For example, it can be at 650 kbps and spike all the way down to 40 kbps then back to 230 kbps. Not sure what to do about this.
