So today was the day our 2010 Election took place.

We were asked to vote for the following positions:

President
Senator 1
Senator 2
Federal Congressman
State Congressman

Everything is going smooth, no major incidents or anything that could compromise the validity of the election.

As you may (or not) know, the Brazilian election process makes use of eletronic ballots, speeding up the counting of the votes by infinite times if you compare it with the american process, which, if I'm not mistaken, still makes use of paper for voting.

Eletronic Ballot for those who don't know!

So right now, as I write this blog entry, there is a certain Federal Congressman who has collected exactly 1.276.169 votes, which makes him the most voted candidate for his region, making almost certain his victory.

You might be asking "So what, who cares?". Well, let me present you this guy.

His name (nickname) is TIRIRICA:

You might not understand a single word he says, but if you did you would die of laughter!

I'm not gonna translate because a translation would not live up to what it really feels.

Basically this guy works as a clown, has no knowledge at all about anything, even less about politics. He is completely clueless what are his responsabilities as a Federal Congressman, and it has been suspected that he is illiterate.

So the objective of this entry was to present you one of the DUMBEST Congressman the WORLD is about to have, and to make you know that even more dumb are the 1.276.169 who voted for him.

FUCK YEAH BRAZIL!!!

Here is a table where you will be able to see how retardedly ahead he is from the 2nd most voted:

I guess you just have a shitty voting system. If someone can win with 6% of the vote, then you're bound to get cases like this one. In my country, even for very local elections, the front runner will never get under 25% of the votes, realistically- and will usually get upwards of 30% of the votes. (this is because the system is designed in such a way that you only get 4-8 candidates per electoral district where 2 are chosen, and only 4-5 candidates ever have a real chance at victory).

Funny, though :p

hahah

The great majority of the brazilian people has little or no knowledge about politics, so you know, we elect the representatives we deserve. As this guy is elected, we deserve shit.

The problem is that people saw him as a protest vote, when you are not satisfied with the current candidates then you just pick a retard. But what those people do not see is that the election of this guy is legit, and he is going to be responsible for a lot of really important decisions.

Also, 16 and 17 years old are allowed to vote, and you know teenagers are unexperienced and do not understand how the world really works...

on a sidenote: HeadhunteR, Brazil and Argentina are like Yin-Yang, God and Devil, we can't live without each one ;D
In the summer the argentinians invade Brazil like crazy though hehe

Duverger's law — Winner-take-all electoral systems tend to create a two party system, while proportional representation tends to create a multiple party system.

His campaign slogan was:
"Do you know what a federal congressman do? Neither do I, but vote for me and I will tell you!"
This is ridiculous!!!
Seriously...
Edit: Oh, and he was not only the most voted in his region, he was the most voted in the role f... country!

This is funny, but voting anywhere nowadays is voting for a puppet, it has no relevance other than entertainment.

The great majority of the brazilian people has little or no knowledge about politics, so you know, we elect the representatives we deserve. As this guy is elected, we deserve shit.

The fact is that Tiririca was a "decoy" for Valdemar Costa Neto, who knowingly that Tiririca would win by a landslide, would have his way into the congress. Valdemar was involved in the "Mensalão" scheme, and had to resign his role as congressman. And now he'll be back there thanks to the ignorance of the rest of the population, who voted (in mass I must add) for such a clown as Tiririca.

Well, Collor (who was EXILED from the country, in the past for his actions as president) had 28% votes for governor of Alagoas, and the very same state elected Renan Calheiros as their senator, a man who is a well known corrupt politician, and did not elect Heloisa Helena instead, who is one of the most honest and devoted politicians in our country.

Our laws regarding politics and the whole election process should be reviewed.
You should have to pass a test before you receive your elector's title, or something like that.
In Flash we trust.

I'm not ashamed of being brazilian, but I am sure dissapointed of this show of mass control. The people do not know and don't WANT to know politics. This is fucking damn sad, since politics rule everything! It's like so many people have said over the time: they want you dumb, and they'll get you dumber and dumber. They need it and they'll get it. ):

In my state, a candidate who has lied the whole campaign won the election for governor. THAT's fucking frustrating as a citizen. How did nobody have noticed the right of answer that was given, or read in blogs or whatever?!

Not ashamed, but definitely sad. ):
