SPOILER OF LAST NIGHT'S GSL RO32 INCOMING
+ Show Spoiler +Now that Idra is out of the GSL, only foreigner left standing is TLO. My speculation on SC2 right now in GSL is that the game is really premature and there is a lot of odds that foreigners can actually take GSL, which will not happen in the future. I think now is the "prime" time for foreigners before Koreans and Chinese take sc2 for real. In my honest opinion, Idra just blew away the best and possibly the only chance to win a major title (such as this GSL). Maybe it was just not meant to be.
However, in my perspective, TLO still has a chance. TLO is good at exploiting infancy state of the game and makes builds that are hard to counter if seen for the first time. There still not exists a build order that can solidly counter every build order of the opponent, TLO can maybe somehow pull something off every series. What TLO needs to understand is that he has to go in there as if his life depends on it. In my opinion, Idra kind of got complacent after destroying entire army of lotze in the last game of the series. TLO cannot afford to do that. TLO cannot NOT upgrade concussive shell vs zerg. TLO, I understand terran is OP and you think you can win vs zerg WITHOUT such upgrade (as you did in ro64 of GSL). But you cannot let any chances slip.
As biased as I am about skills of Asians in the RTS games, I wish foreigners can prove me wrong. Because I want sc2 to be globally popular, foreigner taking the GSL will be a step toward more popular global scene. On my last note, TLO fighting~~~~
PS. Grrr. reference is for TLO winning the first GSL as Grrr. won the first OSL.

Nice Blog... Please use a spoiler next time so people who don't stay up late/early to watch it live can watch a vod without it being spoiled.
Thank you

Yeah seriously, TLO always forgets concussive upgrade ... what's up with that?
I'm also kinda hoping he'll make it to the finals and get really ill during game 5 but then he'll still pull through like a hero out of Norse legends (i.e. Michael Jordan)

I will second the request to use spoilers for information that reveals tournament results.
Sad face

I'm sorry guys for spoiling. It was completely unintentional, now I fixed it.

TLO's core mechanics are improving, compared to the BETA days where he'd rely on gimmicky strategies, so yes, I think he has a fairly good chance to win.

Would idra have been better off going to wcg? he almost certainly would've won wcg usa atleast..
|
That'd be so tight if he did win the GSL. He's my favorite now

lol GSL has a SICK prize pool and WCG USA for sc1 is basically useless (the game is practically dead) and he wouldnt win WCG either way (flash, jd + chinese players who continually practice)

Idra would have won more money at wcg USA. winner got 1k.
he ended up getting $430 here.
still the chance to win much much more was with GSL so it was a no brainer decision.
and ya he would have gotten raped at grand finals anyway so he wouldn't have won more than the usa top prize imo.

i think TLO playing in the GSL is a very very bad idea....he'll arrested for rape! xD (bad joke >.<)

TLO can certainly be the next Grrr... in terms of coming out of nowhere to win one of the first major game tournaments.
But in terms of being the absolute best player in world for a period, I don't think anyone in SC II is close to being where Grrr... was at in the past.

I'll be cheering on TLO to win the GSL. He's living in korea, and he's planning on competing in future GSL's(I hope). He's living in the OGS house practicing many hours a day like the koreans. Who's to say that even if he doesn't win this GSL, he can't win future GSL's.
