So after looking at threads about the old TSLs, I can't help but yearn for these old days. Back then was absolutely great, with the activity on Iccup being overwhelming. TSL games were always a pleasure to watch, with great casters such as Day[9], Artosis, Tasteless, and Chill and the amount of high-level play that was present in every game. The TSLs have also had their fair share of drama. Undoubtedly, the past two TSLs have been extremely successful events for the TeamLiquid community, who have enjoyed watching these high-level games. They have been appealing for both the common spectator and the common Brood War player aiming to learn from these high-level games.
Group 1: Banned from TL events for 12 months AND TSL3 (whenever it is):
With the release of Starcraft 2 and the flurry of tournaments along with it, it really seems like all the foreign tournaments have disappeared. The only thing closest thing to foreign Brood War activity has been the WCG qualifiers, which is really a shame. I didn't want to believe it, but it seems that Starcraft 2 has left foreign Brood War activity completely in the dust. I know that for a lot of Brood War players, it's only wishful thinking for current Starcraft 2 players to come back to Brood War since Starcraft 2 is where the money is at, but will there ever be a TSL3? I'm sure there has been plenty of Brood War fans eager for a 3rd season of TSL, but it seems like there won't be another one because of Starcraft 2 . Am I just crazy or are there truly still people out there who wish the foreign Brood War scene would become active again?
Well they definitely will not rush TSL3. It's a big event, it's a pride of TL and with SC2 being so young, the talent is ripening. My guess that we won't have TSL3 for another year, as all the pieces are still falling into place. I'm getting pumped just thinking about it though.
edit: to clarify, the competition has moved to sc2. bw tournaments are, to put it lightly, sleeping gently in glorious memories of past.
Oh your not alone in wishing the foreign broodwar scene would become active, I would love for that; especially since I didn't really join the scene until right as TSL2 started.
As much as I'd love to see this happen it won't, no way there will be a TSL3 for BW because it's not going to get the sponsors and without a significant prize pool foriegn players aren't coming back to BW.

Well it is gonna happen, it will just be for SC2. Dimaga was banned for getting free wins from friends in TSL ladder
TSL3 is reserved for SC2. The active users play it more, and well, it's fun :D
Currently Liquid is probably having too much work with korea and adding new features in the site (hi PoP and ELO SC2 rankings!), but it might come early next year
I think TSL3 on SC2 will have a lot of work to go through before it can happen. Everyone's on different servers and afaik we can't clear our history on SC2, so every participant would have to buy a new copy of SC2.
The only real work around for TSL3 in SC2 would be to host it after the ladders are cleared or to do it by invite which, imo, goes against the nature of the tournament.
I really can't wait for TSL3, but I think it's going to either take an incredible amount of planning and hard work or a Broodwar disc.

The people who maintain the website are not the ones playing in Korea.
If TSL3 does happen, it will probably be for SC2. I'm sure TSL3 will top TSL2 in terms of excitment and prizes. However, I don't know how they would set up the qualifiers. On Brood War, it was through iCCup ladder system. I guess they might just do tournament qualifiers.

BW is done. There are no more events for foreigners. No money to fund them, not enough interest to make them worthwhile.
Yeah that sounds about right, if it were for BW there would be minimal viewers (most likely the hardcore fans left). SC2 has such a large fanbase right now, there's a hell of a lot of money in SC2 as well. TLS3 will definitely be for SC2, and when TSL3 hits there's going to be so many people entering it won't be funny.
