I'm getting some.
I made some cash from my job this summer, and I got some monetary presents for graduation gifts from family and friends, so I'm going to buy some stuff that I've been eye-ing for a while.
I already got a laptop (Toshiba M645-S4047). Not too high end, but I thought it was nice for its price (a bunch of my friends are bragging about their fancy i7 processors, but they also shelled out like 1.5-2k, so jokes on them!).
And I got a fridge (Black & Decker) for $58 bucks, 1.7 cubic feet, I think. Big enough for me. :D
And a 4-in-1 printer from HP. I am going to love this thing. The one thing I absolutely hated when I went to a summer school two years ago was having to go down 3 stories and over half a building just to print something, and now I can do it right from my room, as well as copy, scan, and fax.
Now, I want to get some headphones and an mp3 player.
I've been looking at two possibilities for headphones. I was first thinking about the Dr. Dre Beats Studio, but then I thought, "No, I don't want to spend $300 or whatever exorbitant amount." I'd like to keep it on the low 100s, at least.
So there's the Audio Technica ATH A700s.
I'm actually confused about these, since I'm seeing two different pictures for the A700s. One has kind of a flat, black shell on each ear, while the other one has blue, dome-shaped ones. Are they still the same headphone? Just look at the first few results of google images.
I'm also looking at the Sennheiser HD 555. They seem to have the same structural make as the 595s, but are quite a bit cheaper. Is the difference just sound quality?
Anyways, the MSRP for the ATH A700 is $300, which I find hilarious, and the Sennheiser HD 555 retail for $170, which is slightly less hilarious, but still hilarious. That's not really an issue, though, since eBay has the ATH A700s in the $100-120 price range, and the 555s get as low as $90, possibly even lower.
I feel like the MSRP is greatly overpriced, so comparison against it isn't exactly super-reliable. That leaves me still wondering if those costs are decent deals for the headphones. Also, anyone have personal experience with these headphones? Any issues that I might have? I hear both builds are very sturdy, and will last me several years without even slight wear and tear.
Also, I'm probably gonna get a Zune HD. Like the iPod touch, but with more memory, cheaper, and HD radio. Fewer apps, but I don't consider myself an "app" kind of guy. A lot of them seem stupid and gimmicky anyway. Anyone have a reason I shouldn't get the Zune HD? I'm not too familiar with the market for mp3 players that aren't made by Apple. I could possibly be convinced to get the iPod touch, but it costs an awful lot...
And with that, I'd be set, I think! Laptop, Printer, Fridge, mp3 player, headphones. Any other purchase that would be worthwhile? Perhaps... an 80-inch TV!?!?!?!?

You got ripped on the fridge, I can wager you can get one for about 10-20 bucks on craigslist or through university classifieds for a similar sized fridge.
Printer, the all-in-ones you'll find to be quite pointless since your library will provide all the non-printer features for free generally (and when was the last time you needed to scan or fax something?). This made me buy a Samsung black and white laser (for 90 bucks) over the other all-in-one stuff.
Keep your eyes for deals, Sennheiser HD 238s for 60 to 70 bucks (retail for 120-140). If you're going to carry them around, they're going to take a beating, don't shell out any more than $100 for daily use/travel headphones, waste of money. 555s might also annoy you in terms of carrying it around; large headphones do for me 
There was a iPod Touch deal for ~150 earlier this month, but it has since expired, Zune HDs regularly go on sale once every month or two, so you can sit on that if you want. Just stay away from Sansas, they are absolute pieces of shit.

Will you be living in dorms or an apartment? Speakers are always nice if you don't always want to wear your headphones.

It's pretty rare for a college or library to let you print for free. A copier is also useful if it's part of the printer setup you bought. I've always thought that a minifridge was a waste of money though. More stuff means more hassle when you have to store things during the summer.

 I'm sad about the fridge now. What's done is done, though. I think it's too late for me to return it.

And yeah, that was one thing I was worried about for the HD 555s, they look kind of huge and not too portable.
Is it BM to use speakers in a dorm room? I considered buying some nice, small speakers at one point, but then decided against it 'cause I'd rather just keep my music to myself than force it on other people. I'm living in a single, though. Maybe it won't bleed through the walls at all.

I personally think it's a bit easy to be BM with speakers in a dorm room setting. Unless you are good friends with your neighbors it's way safer to go with headphones.

Lol college freshmen year is all about BM. Either you piss off your roommate or he pisses you off. I guarantee you, even if you're good friends, little things will grate. Speakers/music is almost always a #1. You'll learn after a couple days to go headphones.
I was in a quad my 1st year, so I learned tolerance lmao. Guy kept playing "Sweet Home Alabama" non-stop.

I looked around on Head-Fi.org a bit, and found the Audio Technica ATH M50S. They're about $100, great reviews on Head-Fi, and from the looks of it, they can fold up real small for easy carrying!

2 of my friends have Noise Cancelling Audio Technica headphones and they are awesome, I don't think you will be disapointed.

Most colleges factor in your printing costs with your tuition, at least mine does.

Check out these headphones. The MSRP is $150 but they're cheaper on Amazon and such. I own a pair and HIGHLY recommend them. They're very very very very very good headphones, especially for the price.
Also, if you're looking for a touch-screen device, check out Cowon, in particular the S9. It's a very well-reviewed media player. If you're looking for something really robust (a PMP) I can recommend an Archos 5. It's quite good though not cheap. It's a good option if you have a lot of music or media in general. It plays just about every format out there and also has internet access and can play HD video formats (though you have to purchase these "modules" separately, they aren't that expensive).

The A700 is a closed headphone with the black shell. The AD700 is an open headphone with the purple grill (it looks blue, but it's purple. trust me, i got one). The sound quality from the AD700 is amazing. However, they can feel a bit uncomfortable after a while because most of the weight is in the cups of the headphone and the "wing" support system isn't as supportive as I had hoped. They also leave you with a faux-hawk. The overall build quality is very good, and it's hard to find comparable sound quality for the same price.

Haha, are condoms really that awesome? Sex is awesome, and being STD-safe and pregnancy-proof is awesome, but I feel like condoms are a necessary evil.
And yeah, I wonder, too... I actually have no idea what my experience will be like. I'm just going to make sure that, whatever it is, I'm going to go through it with some pimp gear.
