I am turning the page in a new chapter in my life. For some reason I am compelled to document this chapter. TL is a good as place as any. Maybe I'm hoping that if I write things down this time around I won't fail or runaway or whatever it is I do every time I try. So what's the new chapter? I'm going to college. Again.
I say again because this is about my third time trying. I don't even remember. I don't think I wanted to remember. I was always supposed to go to college, but I never followed through. We all got our demons. Mine are probably less impressive than most.
Let's see, first try was in 1996 right after high school. Big disaster. I made it about six weeks. I didn't want to be a Civil Engineer anyways. Liking math does not make an Engineer. Having a full scholarship to the Engineering department was nice. I pissed that away because it was easier to quit. The easy way is never the way to go.
Tried again off and on between 2001-2003. With only getting about 25 credits across 5 semesters. Lots of withdrawals. Lots of running away. I made about as many college credits taking college level courses my senior year in high school. Yeah, I'm a real smart guy. Blessed with intelligence, but without the skills to use those gifts.
So this will probably be my last shot at a degree. Getting too old for a fourth or fifth try, however you look at it. Going to go with baby steps; trying out the local two year college to get an Associates Degree first then turn it into a four year. I got a about four semesters worth of credits transferred so hopefully I can pull off a two year degree in just over one once I work in the required courses.
Why blog this? To keep fresh in my mind where I'm going, where I have been, and hopefully stay the course. Maybe some of the young bucks around TL will read this and it will keep them on the course to stay of the easy path of running away and move through life one step at a time. Maybe some of the old guys will read this, and they'll think about taking the baby steps they need to complete their goals.
That's what this is about. Accomplishing a goal. I want this degree. Not for a job or for more money or any material reason. I want to accomplish something I set out to do. I will do this.

Well, I feel ya and I was in the same exact boat with you. Except I ended up running away and quitting to turn into a complete new leaf from engineering to broadcast journalism. Best of luck to ya, hope you succeed where I have not!

I'm injecting my personal blog into a Starcraft based site. No reason a little Starcraft reference couldn't inject itself into my blog.
Actually, I kind of like it, there's always the worry that I'm not totally relevant to the community with this blog. I really just wanted to track what I was doing this time around. I could have gone to some livejournal or dozen other blog sites on the web, but I've been lurking at TL for a while and feel somewhat connected here. So I decided to blog it up here.
