Geforce GT 220 FTW edition [image loading]

So my friend is trying to build a computer, and he showed me this deal. I couldn't find a benchmark for it anywhere, does anyone know?

i normally refer to this benchmarking site that uses the 3dm method.

I showed him this deal, which benchmarked at 1334 with 3dm.

Yeah the 220 has nothing on a 4850. 220's are designed to be the cheap economic versions.

unless 220 FTW edition is the same as regular 220.... but they're completely different are they not?

The GT 220 FTW looks like just an overclocked version of the Nvidia stock GT 220, which is ranked 176th with 451 points. So there should be no contest with the 4850, which has almost 3 times as many points.

EDIT: In come cases, a slight name change can indicate the difference between the mobile and non-mobile version OR an overclocked version from a reseller. This is the latter case, I think.

iccc, i know how a slight modification on the name of a graphics card can sometimes throw it into a whole new tier, so i was wary of this.

so 220 FTW is not too different from the regular 220. they are in the same tier, so to speak. thanks a bunch guys.

i'd definitely go with the Radeon HD 4850 then.

funny thing is the 220 has hdmi and dsub interfaces, but Radeon HD 4850 only has VGA... sup with that?

The radeon 4850 is satisfactory if you can find it for a good price, however it is last generation. I think an nvidia gts 250 could get you more bang for your buck. By the way, 4850 is a better card then the gt 220 but the gts 250 is slightly better then the 4850.

The 220 isn't good at all. 4850 is way better. I use a 220 in my rig and there are a lot of games that are simply unplayable. X_X

the gts 250 has 250 points lower in 3dm benchmarks.
if u overclcok the gts 250, how much higher would it go?

4850 also is 1gig memory, while 250 is half gig memory.

the thing is the 4850 is just $80.
while gts 250 is around $120
