All known to TL there's alot of people that have alot of posts, and many more than have very few posts at all. Though over time even the casual poster tends to accumulate a fair amount to their name.

But i wonder how often do you go to click that post button and then you dont? Or when you have fully typed up a reply and go 'hmm this doesnt really contribute to the topic at all' and just hit that backspace button in order to keep the quality on tl just that little bit higher.

Personally i find myself doing this maybe once or twice a week and i think nearly everytime ive done it, it's partially worked my way into not getting temp banned for the poor quality/trash post that might have been.

so tl members how often do you not post? Or if you have any good stories of a great post getting deleted cause of random events or interesting things that have been unsaid share em up.

I post in most threads I see. Although I do find my self hitting the backspace to stop myself from getting banned (I don't do it enough though xD), for example, I'm in the middle of calling someone a "SKT dicksucking fanfaggot", I then realized I'd get at least 1-2 weeks for that. So I stopped.

I don't post that often so I don't delete stuff I already written before. Back in the day I got semi warned for a crappy topic lol. Mostly I make a decision not to post because others have beat me to it or something similar and me just going "yea what he said" isn't that great of a post.

I do it whenever someone posts something stupid and instead of refuting them I simply want to let someone else do it for me.

I need to learn when not to post blogs more often, but by the time I've spent 20 minutes writing one up I usually just think, "Oh... fuck it, what's the worst that could possibly happen?"

Then I check to make sure I haven't said anything that could be construed as racist before I click post

I do this pretty often, sometimes I read it and it's not as witty as I thought or I stop giving a fuck. I very rarely write anything that I thought would break rules. lol I was about to delete this post so I guess this is a good example

I don't know what it's like for other TL'ers but I feel like I don't post very proportionally to how many hours I lurk daily. I'll chuckle at a blog or think of something to say in a general/sc2 thread but then I'll think "man this really isn't that important," and just navigate elsewhere with my half-completed post turned to fairy dust or whatever happens to unsubmitted replies.

I feel like I have to stick my head in here.
I 'don't post' many... many times per week. However, percentage-wise the numbers don't really mean much >.>

Though I have typed up long posts to accidentally close the tab. Those make me very sad.
So I stopped typing up very long posts!

I'd say I'd have almost twice the post count if I didn't hold back. And there would be more stupid arguments I'd be engaged in. I'm very picky about what I post.

Although sometimes it just comes to me, most of the time I'm thinking real hard. However, few blogs I've posted I did minor checking before posting. For better or worse. But otherwise, I just want to not get banned, so I'm making sure I'm contributing something. Also, if I can't get past one or two sentences, I just give up.

Probably about 4 or 5 times for every time I post, I decide that I don't feel like arguing or am repeating something already said or am a very stupid person, then decide not to post. I almost didn't post this because it's pretty similar to a lot of other posts in here, but I guess that's the point of this thread.

For me, I sit and contemplate whether I reeeeally want to post before I actually do so (or not). Usually, I end up thinking most of the good points have been made, and my post would only reaffirm stuff, because I'm often late to the party and don't want to slog through 10+ pages of comments to see if my own point has been made.

I'm also ignored 75% of the time, so as of late, I tend to only reply if I feel my response will be important enough to warrant a reply in turn (and thus contribute to the general conversation).

My posting habits are pretty erratic. Sometimes I'll go weeks without posting a thing, and then there are days where I'll get really into a live report thread. I guess my posts average out to about 2 a day.

Every day I try to post, I do this.

Especially when I try to post in something that I feel that I don't know very well, and might as well be bullshitting about, I realize this and instead just read all the comments.

Yeah the longer I've been here the more I've found myself changing my mind mid-post about what to say or whether or not to say anything.

This is generally more due to a change of philosophy than anything else...

A lot. Be it deciding not to create a topic I had written an OP for or just deciding not to post, I do it a lot. Since I've read this post, I've done it four times, including two replies I had written for this thread. Despite what you may find in my posting history, I try to keep from posting things that lack content or I feel don't really fit with the tone of the discussion. I say you couldn't tell by my posting history because of course I have my fun in light hearted threads or live report threads. If I added all the times I didn't post when I thought about it, I'd probably have a post count that is a good 4-5 times what it currently is.

I post a lot and i would post even more if i didn't have a tiny censor blocking me from posting a random idea about everything. I would say about 1/4th to 1/3rd of my posts are never submitted mostly my raging ones or obvious trolls ones which i didn't really care for.

Also about 1/100th is lost to random moments of Internet/browser/computer stupidity saying O hey you wanted to post there? Oh opps i forgot to send it and you just lost all of that lovely and long post due to your overly aggressive back and forward use of your page history.

I remember when I first started here, I was pretty hesitant to post. Probably had something to do with intimidation or the fear of not meeting standards and shit. However, as the posts accumulated, I found that intimidation factor just disappeared. I was free to do whatever. Anything I wanted to post, I would. Anything I felt, I'd type out and hit enter on.

I've found myself holding back quite a bit as of late though. Before, I used to just type whatever I wanted without really thinking about whether or not it was appropriate to post or whether or not it contributed. I've found myself cutting down on a lot of aggressive posts and I don't find myself spamming as much as I did in the past. Instead of being at Flamewheel 300 post/week levels, I think I've found myself a home at around 100-200.

I read quite a lot on TL but choose only to post around 1% of the time. Largely because nothing I have to say really contributes in any shape or form. I'm more of an elaborate troll than a person who actually debates on the internet (Not like I can convince anyone about anything, anyway). Therefore, I keep my posting here an absolute minimum except for in circumstances related to my work.

Quite often, I hold my tongue a lot as well because I don't want to get banned (I love this website too much). I also stopped posting a lot of posts that were just "LOL" or something like that.
My posts in the LR threads are horrendous though...

But I would guess that I might even have twice the number of posts now if I had just kept posting away without holding back for fear of stupidity.

I do that quite a bit, esp if im up late reading TL. My reading comprehension/attention span/articulation drops, so I either cant phrase my thoughts coherently, or I totally misread stuff and I have to catch myself midpost, or edit. Also I tend to go through long lurking phases, sometimes depends on IRL happenings.

I try not to be too uptight about it though, sometimes the candidness or spur of the moment reactions from other people is priceless. Definitely not saying everyone has to be super rigid about "well thought-out" posts.

I usually post anyways and then make like 5 edits. It's kind of like, holy crap I sound like an asshat. Then I edit it and again, I'm like, well gee that's kind of rude still. It eventually becomes something silly and generic.

I do this around 90% of the time outside of my own blogs. And the 10% I do post I normally edit to be more friendly/less abrasive

Happens all the time for me, im a crap-poster by nature so i tend to look at my post after im done typing it and if it is too dumb/off-topic i'll just don't post. Sometimes i do slip though and some shit posts come through

Sometimes i only post cause i like a thread but im afraid of getting warned/temp banned for posting my filthy one-liners that people could live without at the same time.

I really only post on threads that I feel I can actually contribute something to. Even if it's just some helpful support. Every once in a while I'll post with something other than that, but I really don't see the point behind having 6 pages all saying the exact same thing. It's just a complete waste. It isn't realistic to go through every page of every thread you want to post in to see if what you've said before isn't contributing anything new, so I often don't post in threads with lots of replies. I'm one of those people who likes to be able to read a whole thread before they post anything. ^_^

I do that from time to time, especially when I feel like I could offend someone or just that it would be BM. I'd do that in communitys where people know me but here it cold get misunderstood pretty easily.

Probably 10% of the time. Sometimes I tend to get myself in pointless arguments so I do my best to avoid them. I would type something up, and just be like forget it, whatever.

well 95% of the time when i´m done reading i think to myself.
Well this topic certainly does not need another persons opinion that does not know half about the topic (including sc2) wich would be necessary to argue in one case or another.
The execption is the blogsection where i like to state my opinion and/or let people know if i liked the blog.

many times. at least a couple times per day lol. i don't censor myself in fear of saying something stupid or getting banned (lol) but rather just because i realize what i typed out was a worthless post, even if it was semi-lengthy.

even just a couple years ago i'd just post whatever i'd want to say. nowadays i don't post unless i feel like i'm actually adding something to the thread. blogs are usually an exception to this rule, though.

I always hit preview before post and I often cancel posts after I re-read it in the preview and wonder to myself what I was thinking just 5 seconds before. Cept LR threads of course, it's too amusing to say stuff and see how other people watching the exact same thing you are think completely different things.

Probably every other post with me.

I try as hard as I can to keep discussions civil. I'm very afraid, due to past experience, that something I type will be taken the complete wrong way as tone can't be read. Teamliquid is the last place on the internet I'd want to make worse by my acts of thoughtless posting.

That being said, this post kind of sucks too, but I'll hit "post" anyway because of the thread it's going to be in.

I'd say it's reasonably often that I type up a reply and think "ehh... this was stupid" and just move on to another thread without posting. Maybe a few times a week?

I wonder how many posts I'd have if I were the raging type and actually bothered debating things / flaming people. Instead I just randomly go about and spew nonsense.

Hopefully I'll never have to find out.

I've fallen into a huge melancholy about posting. I pretty often write up posts...

Shit I almost didn't even post this. Well in short I almost never post after writing something up as of the last year.

I would say I write or half-write and then erase about half of my replies in threads. TL is very strict on standards of posts, and I really respect what they are trying to do with it, so I'm pretty hard on myself. I guess there is a bit of a chilling effect which is sad; but overall I think it's a good thing, given the type of place TL is trying to be/has been historically.

This is tangential, but in particular I really really respect the clear line TL takes on stuff like sexism, racism and homophobia in comments and threads.

I have nothing but respect frankly for the way this place is run. Good work you ppl.

Let's say it like this for me.... if I were to post like a sane being and to my usual self, I would have as many posts (or more) as konadora right now. We started our accounts fairly around same time so see the difference between our post.

But I only post if I see something fairly interesting (like this thread) or if my emotions get the best of me (my previous rage blogs).

I never post because I have nothing of use to say.

The few times I have posted I had to be 100% sure I knew what I was talking about, as to avoid any sort of explosiveness.

I literally do this with like 1/3 or 1/2 of my posts. I guess it comes with getting older. When I was like 14 I'd just post whatever I wanted on TL. I always find myself trying to add the extra 2-3 lines to my shorter posts to keep the content level up. I guess TL just breeds this from people. Every so often I think "the is the kind of post that gets people temp banned" and add more//don't post.
