Ok so I'm freaking out of mind here waiting for tomorrow because the results of my H.S.C. exams are gonna be published.
For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about here's a brief description.
The H.S.C. exam is an exam which every student in this country has to take after twelve years of schooling.It's the most important exam in a student's life in this country.
Basically getting into a good College is very important for everyone and for that to happen in this country you need to get an A+ in your H.S.C. exam.Otherwise you will have to study at a private college instead of a public college.
Now as all of you can tell we are perhaps the most poorest country in the world.So many students who don't get A+ can't afford to go to private colleges because lets face it, most of them are POOR.But those of whom are lucky enough to afford to go to a private college don't have to face this problem.Most of the students in Private colleges here didn't get A+ in their exam.
I however am one of the fortunate ones who can afford to go to a private college.But still it is my wish to study at a public college instead of a private one.the main reason being that private colleges have a high tuition fee compared to public colleges.In fact tuition fees of public colleges are almost next to nothing compared to a private college.
For example, I want to study at a medical school.Now the best medical school in this country is a public college.There are also various private medical schools here as well.At a private medical school here you have to pay a hefty admission fee not to mention a tuition of about fifteen to twenty thousand dollars per year which is a lot of anyone.
But on the other hand, if you manage to gain admission to the best medical school here which is public mind you, you have to pay an admission fee of about one hundred dollars and a tuition fee of around five dollars per annum.
Yes ladies and gentlemen, you have heard correctly.A hundred dollar admission fee and a five dollar annual tuition fee at the best medical college in the country.Imagine how much money you'll be afford to spend on things if you manage to get in there.
But getting in there is extremely difficult for most because out of over thirty thousand applicant, they select only one hundred and seventy five students which is less than one percent.There are only fourteen public medical schools in this country and most of them are pure crap.
Needless to say you need an A+ on your resume to even stand a chance of getting in there.But there are over fifteen thousand other applicants who will also have an A+ on their resumes provided I get an A+ myself.
But on the other hand,if I don't then I'll be in all sorts of trouble.
At times like this I wish I would just go to another country to study but I have no idea where to go especially with my poor English.

Australia also has a great HECS program, not sure how or if it works for international students though. We have some very reputable universities (Monash, Melbourne University, Adelaide Uni, Flinders University, etc) and they seem to be relatively cheap (roughly $15000 AUD for a 3 year University degree at monash - one of the G8 (top 8 uni's in australia)). Anyway, food for thought.

He wants to do medicine. So almost anywhere abroad will be crazy expensive.
Maybe not Pakistan if you have relatives here or something.

you speak better english than most of the immigrants here and a fair chunk of australians too
also dethrawr, i dont think international students have HECS + they get hit up with pretty high fees

If you don't think the amount of material wealth should matter in an application, as your post implies, why are you making it sound like you would rather advantage the poor? That would be just an instance of reverse discrimination.

Thnx a lot you guys.i didn't think i'd get many replies since i'm not much popular here.
I always think about going abroad to study.but it's no piece of cake getting into a good college abroad.so i always feel i'll never be good enough to study abroad.plus since tuition for international students is so high,i sometimes feel weather i'll regret the decision in the future.

Dude your English is pretty damn good. I don't know why you wouldn't want to get out of the country if that's your reason.

americai asheesh ekhane education ta shesh korle, prithibir jekhane itcha kaj korte parba
are O level A level na diye HSC diso keno? Eki qualification na? O level A level to tarche easy 
sorry for the terrible bangla i havent spoken any while i was in the US so i forgot most of it haha. Relearning a tiny bit during my vacation here. good luck with the results dude!
edit: btw, bideshe ashte easy ase. your hsc actually beshi matter kore na. amar o level and a level results were terrible. However ami SAT, SAT II, ar TOEFL ace korsi, and I also got a bunch of recommendations/extracurricular activities/clubs documents. I got into an alright college, if you can ace those exams (ar ami confident asi that you can ) getting into a good college in america shohoj ase

In russia every university has free spots. I think more than half of students study for free and it is even a bit shameful to pay for education. So i wish you the best luck with your exams.

thnx for the advice dosto.i don't know what i should do now.if this fails then it'll be pretty impossible for me to stay here.looks like i'll be taking some exams soon.btw what marks did you get on your scores i.e. the SAT's and TOEFL???
