So you don't find anything wrong with deriving happiness off of the misery of another being? I don't give a shit if he blew off an ex-SO. That is necessary at times. But being happy that she is miserable is completely different thing, particularly since there seems to be nothing that she has done to warrant such a response. He's happy because him not being miserable in a situation where he easily could be proves he's a strong person. He hasn't done any damage to her, and like I said it was probably somewhat lost in translation. All he's done is asserted his feelings and hasn't wasted time prolonging something he doesn't want. The way he acts brings much more success and wastes much less time. Labelling him as a sadist and trying to sympathise too much with the ex is pointless and foolish. | ||

The OP is being pretty well mannered in regards to this thread and all the negative criticism so im SLIGHTLY inclined to believe the ex-gf had fault. Not that i would ever do something like that. actually ima just go with this is just all made up  | ||

I'm guessing she didn't do anything horrible, coz otherwise she'd know it and wouldn't even try to reestablish a connection. She broke up, wants to be friends/get back together, you blow her of in a very childish way and feel esctatic about it. Is she not physically attractive anymore or did she really cause such an emotional damage that you don't even think of her that way? she probly did something bad after all... | ||

If he actually was over this girl and he wasn't miserable about it then he wouldn't have lashed out at this girl for little to no reason. He was miserable to begin with. He tried to move his misery onto her and claimed some sort of victory and bragged about this false happiness even if everything suggest that he is still miserable. If he wasn't miserable then this entire debacle wouldn't have existed and the whole situation would have been very inconsequential to him. He would have just declined without any antagonism. No false sense of victory and revenge. The way he acted brings a false sense of success and ultimately wastes more time as he deceives himself and continues to falsely rationalize his poor judgement as not to face what actually did happen. He didn't prove he's a strong person. He did the exact opposite. To say that he showed the characteristics of a strong person is a deceit. | ||

What you should do is get back together with her, after 5 years or so get engaged, then a week before the wedding break up with her on the radio by building up to the 'big question' which is actually 'when can you move out?' + Show Spoiler + I wonder how the overlap works with those two threads, in terms of posters. Bandwagons form quickly, and seem to decide threads like these. Perhaps in another time, another place, TLers would have been cheering you on. | ||
