Ok so the holiday season is coming up and like every year big titles are coming out at the second half of the year leading up to the holidays.E3 2010 was held recently and i was unable to go there.so i really am in the dark and don't know very much about upcoming tiles.but like every year i've started saving up money to buy more games in the second half of the year.but since i know very little about upcoming games and many of you attending E3,i thought i'd ask you guys for your recommendations.
any genre is ok but it HAS to be a PC title. so far i've decided to buy the following games:
Starcraft II
pretty obvious choice
Mafia II
about time this comes out.been waiting for a while for this.
Call of Duty: Black Ops
looks good.hopefully it will be a great game.
Crysis 2
hoping that this game is as good as the first one.
Metal Gear Solid: Rising
so gonna get this since Metal Gear games don't get released for PC often.
Final Fantasy XIV
same reason as the above one.

looks super scary.i like scary.
Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit
NFS titles have been crap for the past few years.but this one looks extremely different and in a very good way.
if you're into the civilization series, Civilization V is coming out in early september as well
as far as your choices go, i think they're all pretty sound, though I would only be interested in sc2, fear, and need for speed. the rest of the games don't really pertain to my tastes
I never understood why people buy so many games. Maybe its because I am cheap but there are so many games that become boring after like 6 hours or less. I prefer games that last a long time like counter strike and brood war because those are the games with depth and offer the most satisfaction - money aside.
I buy games like i buy movies: pay for the good ones and torrent all the shitty (made for a quick buck) ones

While I agree with most of the games, I don't really know how "great" Call of Duty: Black Ops is going to be, considering Treyarch's previous CoD games and the current mind state of Bobby Kotick and company.

agreed with the statement about Treyarch,they really are crap.but since it's CoD and the storyline is different i decided to give it a try,
The trailer doesn't show much but FIA said that they wanted a realistic game and the developers told that they did their best to get realistic physics. I basically just hope for Richard Burns Rally physics with better graphics and new tracks

How are you missing Civilization 5 seriously dude, Firaxis is pretty much the only developer still waging a perpetual war against sleep.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution should be fantastic if nothing goes wrong, Portal 2 should be great fun, and there's even apparently a new King's Bounty game being in production (not E3 but still relevant since King's Bounty/HOMM owns). Those are not released soon but they're games you might look out for.

Crysis WAS bad, mafia was average, fear was good but F3AR isnt even a sequel to that,,,,
Need for speed? Really? And each consecutive CoD gets worse and worse.
I became pretty disappointed with the MGS series, especially 4, but that Rising...even though I dislike Raiden since he became an immortal mother fucker (not to say that I liked him before that anyway) it does look pretty mad.
Brownie points for Fear 3. One of the most underrated franchises there is. It may not have the glitz or glam. But the game plays very well, and is oh so satisfying to play.

mmm that NFS Hot Pursuit looks mighty fine. I've been in a mood for a good racing game. Might check it out. Otherwise only SC2 for me. I wasn't able to run Crysis, so I probably won't be able to run crysis 2. Other games posted don't interest me.

The minimum requirements are about the same for Crysis as for Starcraft2 and equal to Fear 2, you know. I can understand if you just didn't want to play it, though. I thought Crysis was decent and Warhead was pretty fun. I would have felt ripped off if I didn't get them both for $35. Definitely not worth >$20 each.

Need for Speed 3: Hot Pursuit was an excellent game. Need for Speed 4: High Stakes was an even better game. Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 was a terrible, terrible game.
I don't know if they made any newer Hot Pursuit type games after that, I kind of lost track because it's EA.
This new Hot Pursuit will have to go a very long way to get back on the right track. The fun of the game was completely fucking over cop cars when you plowed into them at 150mph and making them despawn, or making the cop cars roadblock each other instead of you, or shoving them off the road into a rock or tree. After NFS4 they made the cop cars ultra heavy so you could barely do anything to them, and their AI was improved so much that you couldn't play chicken with them when you met them head-on, so it became a lot less fun. EA has a tradition of "over-improving" new versions of their games to the point where they sacrifice fun factor, so hopefully this new game backtracks a bit on that.
EDIT: I just remembered what made me HATE the more recent NFS games. Fucking rubberbanding. Ever since they added that, where any car no matter how shitty could beat your souped-up car simply because the AI is programmed that way, it became extremely irritating. They need to take that shit out of the new Hot Pursuit.
I hate what Bethesda did to the Fallout series. Horrible crappy engine, gameplay is about as unimmersive as can be, writing is halfassed and still in low quantity.

Yeah I enjoyed Morrowind and a little of FO2 (haven't played much of it :\), but Oblivion and Fallout 3 are just really dull to me. There just aren't many elements to them that surpass mediocre, imo. I thought I read that one of the masterminds behind TES and Bethesda left when Morrowind released.

NFS has been shit for a while now but this title could be much better since it's been developed by Criterion (who are the developers of the successful Burnout series) instead of EA.so it has potential to be great.
I spent hours playing the old NFS just trying to run from the cops lol. Hope they do the same formula in the new one cuz the past few ones have been decent at best.

I agree, there isn't much innovation in PC games these days, but unfortunately innovation isn't really what sells it seems. Crysis a good game....what has become of PC gaming?? Are there so few good games that people consider Crysis to be a good game? Apparently the answer is yes.
