Lol this was from a beta key contest...anyways let's say I want to change the gray background to purple, how do I do that...or is that not possible?

Oh by the way I have Photoshop CS4, and please tell me instead of doing it for me, I want to learn

I'm not too good at photoshop but I know that that zealot pic is everywhere and the background looks super easy to make so it would probably be easiest to just remake it with a different color.

If you have the original that'd probably be a lot easier. But basically, you can take this pic / take it from google images or something, erase the background (there's a magic wand/magnetic lasso tool or something like that), don't erase the DT (? green blade) and fill in your purple background as a separate layer.

you might be able to get away with a selective color adjustment layer. settting it to blues and increasing the magenta slider would probably do the trick.

if you have the original photoshop file this would be ez, just go to that, find layers for background, use one of many ways to change color (for example, new layer acting as a translucent purple overlay for the existing, or adjusting whatever layer is already setting the color if one exists (as in if it isn't just a standalone gray image itself)). been a while since i've used photoshop though so~

Just take some time using lasso to select the whole zealot, create a copy of it in a new layer, delete the original layer, create a new background layer of purple, and use render->clouds, you can touch up the clouds with a softened eraser tool to create the same look of the clouds in the above image.

You might be able to use the magic wand and select some regions of the background and then play around with the hue/saturation/rgb settings. Check out some tutorials or photoshop forums.

Or you can do what issorlol mentioned. transparent background overlay on a layer of the background selected using the magic wand + lasso.

Render out the picture of the Zealot (I think it's a zealot). Change the colour of the background and BAM YOU'RE GOOD TO GO!

The issue with just "using the magic wand" is that it's a little imprecise and you might end up inadvertently selecting part of the zealot. no good.

then again, the last time I used photoshop extensively was... PS 7? I think.

I think you'd be better off just creating a new layer over the top and colouring in the background by hand, change the blending options etc. to make it blend nicely with the DT.

The DT outlines aren't really sharp enough to cut out, (guy above me), so it kind of looks unnatural.

Haha Yea I could do that but its kinda of annoying when the image is so small. This was just a quick pen tool job.

You'll propably have to use some sort of painting tool with re-creating the edges of that blade. Shouldn't be too hard tho.

edit: andremember the "feather" tool to avoid sharp edges
