edit: good to go, foobar is sexy, thanks for all the help guys!
I had a Zune. Which is a magical device that can use WMP, which is my favorite music player. Unfortunately Zunes are buggy sacks of shit so mine died. Luckily my Dad is an asshole and he kept an iPod that a hotel mailed to him thinking he had left it there, so he gave it to me.
Now I have an iPod. But to use it, I have to use iTunes.
Fuck.
I download iTunes, and I get a bunch of this shit.
![[image loading]](http://i982.photobucket.com/albums/ae306/mOnion7486/stupiditunes.png)
What do you mean you cant find it? It's in the folder you want it to be in. iTunes/iTunes Music/BOOM there is is. Fine whatever, let's go looking for it, manually.
![[image loading]](http://i982.photobucket.com/albums/ae306/mOnion7486/itunes2.png)
Aight I did what Windows player can do and what you can't itunes. Lemme double click this song right here.....
![[image loading]](http://i982.photobucket.com/albums/ae306/mOnion7486/itunes3.png)
FanFUCKINGtastic. I can play that song, and I'm sure this didn't do anything to my VERY METICULOUSLY ORGANIZED MUSIC FOLDER
![[image loading]](http://i982.photobucket.com/albums/ae306/mOnion7486/itunes4.png)
Shit X_X
![[image loading]](http://i982.photobucket.com/albums/ae306/mOnion7486/itunes5.png)
What is this shit. Why can't iTunes just automatically update like every other player in my life. I have a shit load of music, I don't want to go thru and manually open it in iTunes, and I download a SHITTON of music, so having to manually open each freaking album is going to suck.
Is there a way to fix this? Please tell me there is T_T

Hey iTunes is gay. i completely agree. couldnt stand it x_x.. awesome dad though
|
What you could try is CTRL + A your entire Music folder that you want, then drag and drop into Music under library..
Delete everything in your Library at the moment first though.

oh DO explain ^_____^ if you can, I'd appreciate it

yeah itunes is a bloated piece of crap :[
|
Just so you know, iTunes doesn't require every single one of your songs to be in some exact folder that you think.. My music is all over the place? Just add file and add it in, it doesn't matter where it is..
|
I don't quite understand, but you can just drag and drop files right? So just select all your songs and drag and drop once. Unless your songs are all in random places, which i guess that would suck. I have all my music organized though, for this very reason.

well i used media monkey back in the day, and im aware there are some simpler solutions for syncing an ipod.. just google them (i used media monkey because it helped me order my music library)
|
you guys are saying drag and drop
where am I dragging to exactly?

YOU DON'T NEED EVERYTHING IN THE iTunes Music FOLDER. OPEN ITUNES. DRAG FOLDER/SONGS IN FOLDER INTO ITUNES MUSIC LIBRARY.
I AM YELLING AT YOU OVER THE INTERNET.
User was warned for this post
|
Just use winamp or something, it syncs with Ipods just fine.
|
thats easily solved my friend.
step 1. uninstall iTunes. step.2 www.foobar2000.org step 3. case closed

User was warned for this post lol what he said. drag whatever shit you want into itunes, but make sure you drag the folder from wherever you organize your music from because if you try to move shit around you have to relocate the files and shit and its really gay.

I agree with using foobar2000.
I also found MediaMonkey to be decent. It actually syncs with iPhone, even after WinAmp's plugin gave up trying =]
|
Don't even mess with itunes and all that crap. Install rockbox, and you'll get a way better OS for your ipod, and it'll make your ipod show up as a regular drive so you can copy your files to it. It also plays every filetype you can imagine.

what is the best PC media player ?
i'm "in the market" for one
|
audio; foobar2000 by far
video; J.River media center. (if you wanna organize tons of videos) media player classic (from CCCP's codec pack) if you wanna just play just about any video...but without organizing stuff.
|
im trusting your judgement sheepy
|
i try to stay away from itunes do im not raging at my computer so much
and i'd go with rogdor, that seems like th ebest thing to do
|
i've always used mediamonkey. it's a good player and has lots of good tools for sorting, organizing, renaming files, etc. can convert from different formats to other formats well. you can use it to sync your ipod too. might need some slight tweaking to do that though...
so i'd go ahead and second the use of foobar. i've only used it a few times, but everyone says it's great.
|
my itunes looks alot different than yours. I have "Library" in the top right, under which is music, movies, tvshows, etc. I just drag my shit overtop of "Library" and the whole area gets highlighted and works fine O.o
itunes is still a bitch though, i cant alt from bw to itunes without it crashing sadly.

Mediamonkey and foobar are the two best. Foobar is light weight, and Mediamonkey is best for organizing huge collections.
And yes, my Zune is amazing. ^^ Zune 4.0 is good enough that I haven't installed either of those players, but that's probably not true without the Marketplace.
|
I think Media Monkey can sync with Ipods try that, it looks nice works nice but sometimes can be a bit buggy 8)
*edit* everyone else already said what I said lol
|
Itunes is one of the worst progammes ard, its so freaking unuser friendly
although i have to keep using it cause its the only thing that i can use to make my own customised ringtone free of charge ;_;
|
I guess this is a pretty late reply, but just so you know:
1. the first time you run iTunes it asks you if you want iTunes to search and organize your music. You say "No". 2. go to your music directory. 3. drag from the directory and drop into iTunes; iTunes adds the music to the library without touching/moving your files. 4. done.

Monion is bad with computers, so he takes 30min to make a blog about it. I still love you, but this was a terrible way to spend 30 minutes.

Always nice to see more converts who see the light of foobar and away from the evil of iTunes \o/

rockbox is fucking shithouse, dont use it, if you know where all the files are on your computer you can import them into itunes all at once by going File->Add Folder To Library->browsing to the folder with all your music in it->Select folder and bam your done, itunes isnt as bad as all these people are making it out to be but it isnt that fantastic either, just get used to it if u wanna listen to an ipod

Could the problem just that you're on a presumably english OS and itunes just can't read the Korean directory?
|
what i hate about itunes is that whenever i want to put something on my iphone i have to "sync" it on. So I have to keep all my movies DL'd on my pc if i want to keep them on my ipod which is fucking retarded.
|
On June 14 2010 15:05 Vanka wrote: Could the problem just that you're on a presumably english OS and itunes just can't read the Korean directory?
nope
|
As long as you have the ipod drivers installed (which you need to install Itunes to get, but you can uninstall Itunes afterwards), you can use Winamp to manage your ipod.
I did it before using my ipod nano... but it was a while ago so I don't remember the process... I think I used the process on this site:
http://www.simplehelp.net/2007/07/07/how-to-use-winamp-to-manage-your-ipod/
Compared to Itunes, Winamp doesn't have quite as good an interface for putting songs on an ipod, IMO, but it IS better than having to have that horrible piece of bloatware installed on your computer.

Did you try to install the Korean language pack? I assume you did.
Itunes is bad anyways. Lol

5'ed this blog for my passionate hate of itunes.
havent updated my ipod in years because of it.
yeah, im that lazy. :/
|
|
well the problem with i tunes is if you do not have a mac, or if you download a bunch of music not from itunes, itunes is basically just a giant headache waiting to happen. my macbook automatically stores all the music in the itunes folder so it never has to look for it like that. On my pc i often have had this same problem. the only possible solution is to make sure that itunes is your primary music program. double check to see if windows media player is not the primary program because if it is that may be part of why itunes isn't finding the files as easily
|
you don't have to use that. have it intstalled for drivers and never touch it. plenty of other softwares around
|
Haha. iTunes is the devil^^

what is this? You dont need itunes if you have an ipod, most players are compatible with ipods. I use winamp with my ipod.
|
i havent had any problems with itunes other than performance issues. i would recommend using foobar instead though
|
Posting to show my support. I was forced to use itunes a few years back and I'm still in counselling over it. My anti-virus scanner has picked up trojans with more usability than that POS.

I'd like to use foobar instead of iTunes BUT it's got problems of its own. foobar won't tag WAV files and it organizes all my 'The...' bands as T's and puts my ATCQ in the A's.
|
Try WinAmp.
|
Only "advanced" users can turn off iTunes' brilliant housekeeping.

EDIT:
Just read through the comments, what's with all this iTunes hate? When Apple takes over the world you're gonna want your iPhone on you 24/7, your iPad always at full charge, and you better damn sure have iTunes as your default player. CHECK THAT BOX!!
|
I hate iTunes because it runs like a slow ass PoS on my overclocked gaymen quad-core rig with crazy graphics...
It's not any faster than on my computer that was built four years ago.

i hate this too! why can't it just be like a USB flash drive?
|
Posting in support of iTunes as a computer savvy person.
Runs fast on my comp. Never had a problem. UI is far easier than anything else I have tried.
|
After 4 years of abuse at the hands of itunes I downloaded foobar and got the ipod extension..
HOLY CRAP IT IS AWESOME THANKS TL!!!
IF YOU'RE FED UP WITH ITUNES JUST GET RID OF THAT SHIT WOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
yay! epik high!
but yes, itunes is an extremely shitty program.

I logged in just to agree with this. Holy shit **** Apple, **** Itunes... ugh. Itunes takes like oh... I don't know 4-6x more memory than foobar which means its bad for gamers. Also why is Itunes white? My comp is 100% black/dark and I don't like a white light shining in my eyes at night. Foobar has different themes and the black one suits me (also google ThaImpact if you like Dark themes). I switched to Foober and EAC for burning and I am so happy. I hate Apple with a passion and had been stuck using Itunes. I found out that AAC format is super crap (and Apple uses it to fuck you over) so now I use FLAC lossless. If you got CDs and the space burn ur CDs with EAC and listen to them with Foobar2000. I got some Sennheiser audiophile headphones and I notice a HUGE difference, just saying. Also Itunes is a ripoff and their DLs are crappy quality, don't support artists, and Steve Jobs uses a PC.
I do keep itunes installed b/c I haven't bothered to find different ways to sync my ipod nano with a scratched screen b/c Apple sucks and didn't recall their failed product. F*** Apple.
