I found out I had 24 posts, so I made one more post in somebody's blog so I can fit myself into the roulette. Thread was still open when I went back, but was closed when I hit post :/
Probably for the best, since I'd have end up on the bottom of page 3 and gotten banned
I love how all the official TL.net beta key contests take contests to a whole new psychological level, haha. I'm surprised there wasn't more people flooding into that thread though (same goes with the low count of <25 post members).

The risk is not nearly high enough, and the participation threshold is much too low. It should be a one to three month long ban, and the required post count should be much higher (somewhere in the hundreds). Furthermore, the posts in the thread itself should require some more effort beyond simply hitting enter.
My blog got closed cuz it was 3 minutes after mOnion's curse your faster typing! Anyways I still think it's a plot by Hot_Bid to increase his ban count to catch up to Manifesto7.

Gotta agree with Monion. Once you get in a rhythm of posting, it's just too hard to all of a sudden stop. Even though you can read, there's bound to be times when you just want to post, like in this blog for example.

2 weeks is tough x.x
I lurked for more than a year before actually bothering to register, and then it was quite a while after registering before I actually made a post. My suggestions are designed to make entering that thread a true risk to the participants. Perhaps a post count requirement is the wrong way to go about it. Upon further reflection, I would make the requirement based on the number of posts / week. This way, those who enter will care greatly (or so it is hoped) if they are banned or not.

that's pretty harsh o_O
I guess this pretty much sums it up. You don't just lose Hot_Bid's beta key, but the possibility of other beta key contests in the next 2 weeks.
I lurked for YEARS before I actually started posting regularly I believe my first account has 6 posts and I registered it in 2003, I made this one 2 years ago and actually started posting on it. So thats what 5 years of lurking? Can I get some sort of award for that? But I still wouldn't want a 2 week ban for a CHANCE at a beta key. Not worth it imo.

you have such a cool name
I cannot tell if that is sarcasm or not (Romanian, etc.), but I do not particularly care for it. It's a relic from long ago.

This is true, but I doubt any of those contests (should they even exist) would require such minimal effort as this one..

I've been lurking without an account for a while and even since creating my account I haven't posted all that much, but I really don't think I would want a two week ban. I do like the idea though. Very different from any other beta key contests I've seen.

You know you have a gambling problem when you feel like entering this even though you have no need for a beta key.... Thankfully this isn't a new revelation to me
I do like the fact that this will get a lot of the more.... desperate people for beta keys out of the way for 2 weeks and hopefully cut down on the amount of begging going on even though mods have been good with the bans and such for that.
Pretty damned funny, once again. Though I'm not surprised by all those low postcount users, go figure they dont value posting on TL. The post requirement should have been a tad higher to make it more interesting.
What exactly happens when you get banned? Is it just banned from posting? Or banned from the site altogether... because if that's the case i don't think i can live without TL for 2 weeks.. O.o Anyway, my friend REAAAAAAAAAAAAALLY wants a key so might try to get him one. What an interesting idea for a contest :D
I'm surprized that there are so many +500post users in that thread, because just couple days ago Hot_Bid was giving keys to anyone who had 500 or over posts ^_^. (including me, thankssssss hot_bid ^_^)
Yea, I'm not surprised that the posters are between 25 posts and 100 posts. It doesn't matter to them whether or not they're banned because they post so infrequently anyways.
You know, there's nothing to stop us from discussing the Beta Roulette within the Beta Roulette thread, provided you've got the balls to do it and over 25 posts =]
I think even more fun would be locking this thread when the other one reopens. I'd be tempted even though I don't have time for sc2, but we've got a brand new super sf4 thread I don't want to miss out on >.>
I wanted to post in that thread so badly, but I feared the banhammer. Most of my dedicated SC2 time is used lurking these forums, what would I do without that! So many nukes in that thread btw, can people NOT read? :\

This contest is hilarious and well thought out. Now all of the newcomers who joined simply to spam about beta keys can do so appropriately. If you think about it, this is pretty much getting rid of them all as well. The 19/20 who lose will be banned for two weeks and will most likely be too disheartened to come back and try again, while the 1/20 who actually won will now see no need for TL.net anymore or just become addicted to the beta (like all of us). Of course there are exceptions, such as the few veteran members who have tried their luck there. I still don't know why they'd do that though lol.
I guess I'm just appreciative towards anything that is hindering the influx of the not-so-well-intentioned new posters.
edit: Also, I find it so hilarious that those with less than 25 are still posting. It's just like the beta key giveaway thread. It required over 500 and people with ridiculously low amounts were still posting.

it's so fucking hilarious scrolling down and seeing like 5/20 posts being under 25. Like each one I see makes me laugh a little harder until I spew out my tea ROFL

You can clearly see TL is slowly preparing its members for the Battle Royale Beta-key Contest that is going to come sooner or later. You mark my words.

I suppose it's reasonable fair to generalize that low post count users don't value posting on TL. However, I was considering doing this just for fun. It sounds like a good time. Well, until I get banned for two weeks and regret it after a day or two.
and it's locked again, here come another wave of bans. I really love this idea, it's funny to watch. hahaha I can actually see the icons changing to locks as I'm refreshing

As a matter of fact, I considered doing it too very briefly, even though I got a key at the 500+ handout. Gambling always has some weird appeal, and actually I could use two weeks without TL now, as I'm having some crazy times with tests and assignments coming up. But then I realized I really dont want to miss the upcoming OSL semifinals
So I'll just resort to willpower.
Also, I'm not trying to generalize about low post-count users, but a ton of them lately are really just people who signed up for beta-keys, and amassed 5 to 50 mindless posts in the contest threads.
I was half tempted to post in that thread just to see if I could be lucky enough to get one. It's like... you know the fire is hot, but you want to swipe your hand through it anyways. Eventually you'll get burned, but it's sort of exciting at the same time.

That random.org screenshot is no proof, you could have just rolled it approximately 20 times until it yielded the desired result. But it's ok, he was well-deserving
Also, the banhammer seem to have missed a spot on page 9.
I think the thread is doing a good job identifying <25 post count posters who don't read the OP. Reading is crucial, so I'm glad HB is encouraging it there. By that I mean I'm glad he's banning those who post before reading >.>

I could have, but i rolled it the instant the page closed once (check time on my comp). I guess I could have changed the time on my computer or photoshopped the image, but I could also just create a contest "hotbid picks the winner" or just give a key to Spiritofthetuna normally, because we have the keys lol. So theres really no incentive for me to "cheat" because I can "legally cheat" anyway.

I am curious on how to avoid being accused of rigging through a virtual draw. Good thing no one has accused me so far in my raffle contests.

Actually you could have waited all 10 pages to fill up, turn on your computer screen recorder, go to random number generator, and post video of you determining 10 winners CONSECUTIVELY. Because there are (1/20)^10 possibilities, it will effectively nullify other's argument that you could simply repeat yourself until the winners you want are determined.

Or people could just accept that if a veteran like Spiritofthetuna didn't have a key he could probably just PM a mod and get one anyways :p
HAHA so many being perma banned pretty hilarious. I don't really want to be banned because I want to be able to post in the ufc 113 thread but... Will probably play since i need a key -_-
Lol there is no point claiming hb rigs it as he doesn't have to rig it to give away keys he could easy just slip people he wants keys he clearly has them just laying around.
Also i see hotbid is using the new Post # system to his advantage lol
Now if i was someone wanting it i would create 19 accounts log into my neighbors Internet then fill up the whole page with people getting pema banned ppl.

How did I miss that thread WOW good thing Jacobmedcp did his you tube giveaway because I would be dieing right now for missing it... I think I would post in this 'get or ban', good thing I don't have to gl to participants
I occasionally read the automated ban list because some of the entries are hilarious, and didn't find out about the roulette until scrolling through five pages of HB bans lol (imma throw in my lot if it's back up later, maybe two weeks will be enough time to think up a constructive post)

Mods have the ability to tell if users are using alternate accounts, so your main account would probably be banned for that.
Such a funny contest to read over. I didn't want to go for it though. (as my luck is rather shit, and I didn't want terrible terrible damage to happen to my Liquibet or Fantasy Team)
Man that was soo painful. I didn't know there was a 500 posts for betakey thread, tried so hard to get people to post in it for me. That was a harsh couple of days lol. Good to be back though, and I finally got a key a couple of days ago ^.^
