I consider myself to be a pretty funny guy...most of the time. I can make friends laugh, I can make my brother laugh, but usually whenever I try to make girls laugh...they laugh at me, not with me. Case in point: I was trying to tell this attractive girl in my class a joke I heard a few days ago, but I kind of started stumbling on the phrasing because I was too captivated by her beauty and sparkling blue eyes, and before I knew it she was laughing at my unexpected bout of stuttering, not at my supposedly funny joke. Any tips for getting past a situation like this?

BTW, it's FlaSh, not Flash. Just thought I'd get that out of the way while I'm at it.

In my opinion, telling jokes to girls is cheesy. I prefer to use my sarcastic sense of humor to make girls laugh.

I agree with nTooMuch, telling actual jokes to girls that you're interested in is rather corny. If you want to be funny with girls you have to have a cleaner sense of humor and better one-liners in conversations when you're with a group of people like a class. When its just a 1 on 1 talk then i think you have to be more sarcastic and tease her to get her to smile/laugh. just my personal opinion, take it for what it's worth (which is nothing seeing as i'm a 17 year old highschool kid)

She probably wasn't laughing AT you.

It was most likely nervous laughter to ease the situation for both you and her.

This is not really a 'make girls laugh' blog, sounds more like 'I'm in grade school and still put girls on a pedastal' situation. Overcome that asap and you'll be able to talk to them and make them laugh np.

How about just trying to have a normal conversation? Spend too much time trying to make a girl laugh and you'll just trip yourself up.

I use my observational humor along with my dry/sarcastic remarks and it usually works for me. I really think it all depends on your delivery though.

see with humor.. you dont try to be funny, you take the situation and have a funny point of view on it. and thats what makes it funny. try to be funny and you wont be.

In my experience, the only way you can mess up talking to girls, is if you try too hard. I know what you feel like, I used to get all sweaty when talking to girls. Now, I just know to relax, and everything usually works out fine.

You really don't need any secret recipe. And being funny comes from being comfortable with the situation, you're not going to be funny if you stress yourself. Notice how all the situations you described where you are funny are situations where you're comfortable (being with brother, friends, etc.).

And she probably wasn't laughing at you, you just tend to convince yourself of stuff like that when you're feeling self-conscious.

Don't tell jokes, they're fun for friends but they're not good for making girls laugh (with) you. Telling funny stories is a tactic I use when I don't really know them and with girls that Im close with, teasing them a little bit (never insult obviously and steer clear about comments on their physical appearence as they can easily turn downhill). Of course, this is just how I treat girls in general and I usually tone down the whole funny routine if I'm actually going for them

Make her laugh at herself that's better than just telling jokes. Make fun of the things she likes and the way she looks. Don't criticize her just make fun of her. That way she will laugh with you and you can't really get hypnotized by her looks if you r trying to make fun of her. Mindset, it´s all you need.
