Well lately I haven't been SCing at all (SC2) because my computer would always overheat and shuts down in the middle of the game, which has become so frustrating that I completely stopped playing.
However, today my roommate, an Electric Engineer major, came up with a brilliant solution:
Let me tell you.. it worked very well! Not only did my computer not shut down in my past three hours of gaming, there was considerable less lag! My fingers were freezing though but I'm getting used to it. =) I was in such a good mood that my micro/macro improved, and I went 8-3.
Today is such a good day.

It took an Electric Engineer major to think about FANS?
Anyways, have fun playing SC2.

put 4 bottle caps under your laptop to raise it about half an inch...that makes a lot of difference seriously...and that fan..u can have it blow from back of ur monitor so u ur hands don't freeze

Anyways, have fun playing SC2. Haha I added the EE part out of sarcasm.. Originally I already had 2 fans (the cooler under my computer) so I just sorta gave up on computer-cooling fans... it didn't occur to me that these megafans would work

why don't you just go grab a laptop cooler? it raises it and it cools it.

what happened to that dorky picture of urs? O.o?

I had the same fix on my old desktop, just opened it up and stuck a large fan next to it, worked great and it never overheated again.
|
My god why didn't I think of that!!!!

here's mine-
no cold fingers for me :D

Can't believe you removed that picture of yours T_T

A ventilator on your hands is not such a great idea.
|
I use two ice packs in rotation when one gets warm I put it back in the freezer and use the other one. They tilt my laptop slightly so my hand circulation isn't cutoff and they prevent my laptop from overheating. Surprisingly there is no condensation/droplets of water on the bottom.
Works really well and my fingers don't get cold.

Also this. Rapid movement of fingers creates makes your muscles "hot", the fan hitting on your hand with cold air is a bad idea. Think of putting ice into hot water (not really as extreme), but will cause your muscles/joints to ache overtime.

Your desk is different from the ones in Wilbur.

cost me $1.50 for the electrical tape. I got the fan from my old g4 and it pumps out 83cfm so I think I did rather well. Cutting the case was a little hard but it was pretty fun too.

what a genius roommate!

Man how can you guys play on laptops? Laptops feel soooo weird for SCBW and SC2... Guess I'm just not use to it.

I only play SC2 on my laptop.. it runs it on ultra fine + I stream too... you can always get an external keyboard if it feels weird but I'm used to it now

having a desktop for college is really inconvenient for me )=

I sincerely hope that slightly off camera is an open refrigerator :D.
I actually had a friend who put his computer into an old fridge w/ a fan and cut a small hole for his cables. It ACTUALLY worked out well and he could overclock it pretty significantly. It was awesome :>

Its a platform with 4 litle legs and a hole with a fan in it. Do you need a manual ....

I put ice packs under my lap-top and occasionally i have a fan blowing on the back as well.... but my fingers still freeze.
