So I have not talked about this yet, but I do play a lot of 2v2's. I know they are mostly lame, but it's a way to play that's a little less lonely. I like having someone to play with just for fun. I'm not particularly competitive in 2s but it is decent RTS practice you can do with a friend. There are a few things I've picked up doing 2v2.
Holy Twilight Fortress Batman!:
Since the reset I end up getting twilight fortress again and again. It has to account for like 2/3rds of every 2v2 game I've done since the reset removed Shakuras Plateau and Kulas Ravine from the 2v2 pool.
ZT and PT teams are nearly unplayable:
Terrans being immobile especially on Lost Temple or Metalopolis means that whoever has the joy of being partnered with the Terran is 9 times out of ten on non Twilight Fortress maps brutally rushed by the 2 others and usually results in a quick defeat as no amount or turtling (and in the case of Zerg turtling is not too easy) can handle a double ling rush or double zealot rush. So basically I'm in the spot where I either have to play double Terran or simply not play with a Terran partner. Blizzard has noticed this issue and unfortunately their answer is to make more maps down the line that put the partners closer together. Some help that is eh?
This sounds like a lot of complaining but this is actually pretty fun.

Are you kidding me? I play T exclusively in 2v2 (and I play a lot more 2v2 than I do 1v1, it's what I do most of the time) and TZ is a really good mix. I'm not top of plat with any of my partners but I'm between mid plat and top gold with all of them, and have played maybe a 100 games now.
TT is alright, but TZ is by far my favourite pairing. If you're getting overwhelmed by your opponents and T cant help, he is not doing a good opening imo. 3rax is mandatory most games, and I usually open two reactor, and we manage to hold off most early game pressure.

Anyone else find it strange that the OP doesn't mention SC2 beta at all????
It's like BW's not even a possibility anymore...

I've been playing 2v2 with a newbie friend and we've been able to win over half our matches in the gold league. We play as ZT. The only thing I really do not know how to beat is double protoss on the map with shared bases. They turtle up hard and one goes full carriers/mothership, the other gets like all colossus/zealots. I usually go Hydralisks as the bulk of my forces and my partner goes mass vikings, but when our armies clash we just get absolutely run over.
Edit: LOL, I didn't even consider that this was about SC1 and not SC2. Nevermind.

lol, I honestly didn't even consider a possibility of this being a sc2 post which made me think what a noob this guy has to be to still play Lost Temple.
I think soon we're gonna need 2 sections of blogs as well...
