So, I've posted this on the battle.net Tech Support website and after 4 days, they won't reply to my post. So, I figured I'd try to post on TL forums since ya'll are helpful. 5-10 mins into the game SC2 will completely lock up my PC and the sound gets stuck in a loop. I've tried just about everything listed on the battle.net Tech Support site to fix this issue and it still persists. Here's a list of things I've tried and a list of my comp specs: 1 - Updated video card drivers for w7x32 ATI HD Radeon 4350 - Problem still exists (however, I was able to play about a 15 minute game when I installed the driver listed below). 2 - Updated all windows updates - Problem still exists. 3 - Windowed mode, windowed (fullscreen) mode, full screen mode - Problem still exists. 4 - All graphic settings on Low - Problem still exists. 5 - HWMonitor says temps never get above 50C (regularly 40C when not gaming) - Problem still exists. 6 - Updated the variables.txt file as described on battle.net Tech Support forums - Problem still exists. 7- GPU isn't top of the line, but it's above the requirements on that tomshardware.com website so I should be able to at least play on Low settings.
Here's my comp specs:
Operating system:Windows 2.6.1.7600 () CPU type:AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 955 Processor CPU Speed (GHz):3.22 System memory (GB):3.248 Graphics card model:ATI Radeon HD 4300 Series (Mine is the 4350) Graphics card driver:atiumdag.dll Desktop resolution:1680x1050 Hard disk size (GB):465.76 Hard disk free space (GB):334.682
I have a 580W PSU (single rail +12V) if this matters.
If anyone could please help me out I would appreciate it. I've been unable to play since I got the beta (about 2 weeks).

Not sure what is causing your problem. Your PC is almst same as mine. You might want to make sure your windows 7 is updated all the way. I think meant to tell you this. It runs fine on mine with no crashing. Also try running the game by right clicking on beta exe and go to properties i think it is. Try running it in Windows XP SP3 Compatibility Mode

The battle.net tech support site says theyve had problems using compatibility mode but I'll try it anyway. Are you using compatibility mode? What GPU do you have StrifeX?

I just tried to update my BIOS version...no dice

i don't think you are but if you are playing at 1680 bring it down to the lowest.
|
I play at 1440X900 or even lower than that on Low Settings and it still locks up.

So I ran the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool and it found an error on my hardware. So, I identified which stick of memory was giving me the error and tried running SC2 just on my one good stick (2G). The game still crashed - this time even faster than normal. I built this computer 6 months ago, do you think OCZ would give me an RMA on my faulty stick???
