Why did you even list Kingston...

There's a Prison there. And a university. And old people.

Vancouver has awesome night life. Be sure to hit up the clubs/bars on Granville street on a friday night. They close off the entire street and it's just a big fucking circus. The pizza places beside the bars/clubs are just as full, if not fuller, than the bars/clubs themselves.

Definitely consider visiting Niagara Falls. Seeing the actual Falls is pretty cool, especially if it's your first time, and the city is really focused on tourism. (unfortunately for us residents, I live in Niagara.) Here is a picture of Clifton Hill, which is basically a few minutes walk from the actual falls:

Definitely enough to do here for a week or so, or even just a couple days.

you should go see:

vancouver
victoria island
banff
ottawa
montreal
quebec city
halifax

the east coast is the most laid back (read: scarcely populated) part of the country. but it's a signficantly different flavour over here, and most people like it.
By the way, my name is Funk. I am not of your world

Toronto - fucking trash. Avoid it. Maybe go to CN Tower but thats about it.
Edmonton - Go for like 1 day to see West Edmonton Mall. Then see the gang tags sprayed on all the walls and gtfo.
Montreal - Best Canadian City - Especially in the summer. Seriously it's such a great place...it's like the ethnic diversity of Toronto without everyone being a douche. There are festivals constantly, and franco girls are way hotter than average canadian girl.
Ottawa - Decent, not as good as Montreal, but way nicer than Toronto. Parliament is pretty cool but if you've seen big old buildings in Europe, it's nothing to write home about. People are much nicer than Toronto lol...if i haven't pushed the point enough, avoid Toronto .
Halifax - Pretty sweet. Go eat lobster.

Don't know about Victoria/Vancouver except that EVERYONE from those cities thinks that BC is superior to every other province. It probably is - pretty expensive though.

I think it's misleading to characterize all Torontonians as douches. Relative to other countries, no one in Canada is a douche. I think other Canadians get that impression of Toronto because we're just not as nice as they'd like us to be.

OP: If you haven't figured it out already, most everyone in Canada outside of Toronto hates Toronto. They even make a movie about it. It's called, Let's All Hate Toronto.

bolded text is such a stupid statement

Winnipeg is nice in the summer (late May-Sept). We don't have much tourism because there aren't a lot of spectacular attractions. However, we have a few good festivals during the summer. Things are cheap in comparison to other cities and we're also extremely multicultural. Drop by on your way to the East.

Toronto is an essential must for any visitors to Canada! We have the CN Tower, Skydome, nightlife (although you may not care about this part), Hockey Hall of Fame and a ton of festivals like Carribanna (sp) to showcase the diversity of the city.

The rest of Canada just hates on Toronto because they secretly wish they were from Toronto! It's kinda like how its cool to hate the NY Yankees in sports, or to bash on Britain/Germany/France in Europe

If you want to see the scenic, natural side of Canada, however, then I would advise that you spend a major part of your time in Western Canada with the Rockies and all. The Maritimes are also very scenic and definitely "Canadian", so spend some time there too. Ontario is also natural, but you'd have to go further north for that in our province. Quebec is probably scenic and natural further up north, but it's Quebec :r

I think it would be cool to even give the North West Territories a shot or even Nunavut up north, if you really want to see Arctic Canada, but I'd imagine you would have a better "arctic experience" in Sweden or Norway.

I'l try and write up some more information when I get the time, but you should definitely check out Toronto because it really is the New York City of Canada and there are many things to do, and much culture to experience in the city.

Personally I would go to Toronto just because it's Toronto and you don't really want to say "I went to visit all of Canada's major cities but I skipped Toronto because some guys online told me it was horrible". But maybe that's just me, I like to visit all the major areas of any place I go to for tourism.

That said, Toronto is horrible

FFFUUUUUUUU!!!! I wouldn't go as far as to call Toronto fucking trash. It's just that she has all the characteristics of the middle child syndrome, caught between Montreal's "world class" sophistication and Vancouver's natural beauty that has left her with very little personality of her own.

ETA: Bata shoe museum mother fucker! If you wanna see some really old shoes come to Toronto.

Ottawa FTW, I am a franco phone from the north of Ontario. I would add if you like fishing or hunting to check the northern province of Ontario it is very friendly but also french (the northern part). I can't really add anything else since everything in this thread was mostly already posted.

But I did go to Toronto and I did not like it at all, but the roller coasters are really fun.

Guess I really have to check out toronto...just to be sure that the hatred is all justified! D:
you already helped me a lot, thanks.

Sure, i'm interested in nightlife but that won't be the main reason for my decicion to go somewhere. I'm staying for six months and try to find some little jobs so it could be a problem partying all night long. Girls aren't a big deal either since I've got a gf already.

aaah, all those "luxury problems"...

only 2 months left =)

Really, I dont expect to make big money at all. I Just want to reduce my overall spendings a little bit, communicate with people and so on. Having/Making money is always good but that's not why I'll move there.
