I'm sorry guys, but I'm computer-retarded and I don't know what's going on. Tech-support thought it was IE, but I use chrome. Any ideas as to the problem?
edit: If you need more info, just ask. I gave everything that I thought was pertinent.

download hardware monitor and run it when ur machine is idle. Record/SS the temps. then do some heavy activity and do the same. btw, when is the last time you cleaned out the dust? How old and what kind of parts do you have?

How old and what kind of parts do you have? the moniter blinks and says no signal. But the lights on my computer also goes off. So I think it is in fact the computer. All right, where do I get hardware monitoring stuff? My computer is like six months old or so, and I've never dusted it off. It's a stock gateway (didn't build my own I'm a shame yadyadyada.) Pentium dual core. Nvidia graphics card. But I don't know the specs on either one. Um...I'll try to find my computer one sec sorry. edit: In no way is this computer overclocked it's a factory made gateway.

But regardless, get a can of dust off and some qtips and just clean all the dust out of the fans and shit. then get as much dust out of the heatsinks and other shit as you can. If that doesn't help it. then it could be other things (but it can't really hurt to dust it out, unless ofc you static shock some parts). Take it outside to do this.

I think he's saying that 6GB of ram is overkill considering the other specs... especially the subpar GeForce 9200 graphics card, which is actually really bad if you want to do some serious gaming on the computer. Regardless is this computer still covered under the warranty?? Its only 6 months old so it should be, and considering this might(probably is) a hardware problem, your easiest solution is to get the company to fix it for you. A quick check of the website tells me that it still is under warranty and in fact alot of the people on newegg have been having trouble with their rigs as well. On a side note,

OH MY GOD GET A 800W power supply AT LEAST. I'm like 99% sure it's because you don't have enough power. I used to have a 500W power supply for my computer which was about half as strong as your computer. Everything seemed fine for the first year I had it because I only ever surfed the web or played Starcraft. Then, I bought fallout 3 and ramped up the graphics settings. Suddenly, my graphics card was needed for once, and my power supply literally exploded lol. I'm pretty impressed it's just shut down instead of popping a capacitor. To confirm this (and this should happen pretty easily), look up how much each component of your computer uses for power. In particular: processor, graphics card, motherboard, hard drive, DVD drive, RAM etc. You'll find that the numbers add up to quite a bit above 300, almost certainly causing your shutdown issues

I'm running a resource moniter. Is CPU computer usage in terms of power? Because a stream+facebook nearly maxes out my power

I also checked the hardware with this PC-doctor thing and nothing was wrong with my memory or mobo. I had this pc for around 3 years and I never had any problem with my little 300W even when playing games and stuff... so I really have no idea what's wrong.

I'm running an Athlon II x4 + 4870 ( >>>>>>>>>>> GeForce 9200 consumption and performance wise ) with a Corsair HX520W and imo it is already overkill. Just get something made by Corsair / Antec / Fortron / CoolerMaster / Seasonic. edit: i still love you Day[9] Expecting some good casting tonight ![]()

Quality is more important than wattage though, you could give me a 1200w no-name PSU but if all the amps are on the 5v rail then it's going to be worse than my 400w Corsair. 800w is overkill for all but the craziest setups (Quad Core SLI / Crossfire and such). While 300 does seem low, it's unlikely to be a power supply problem. Cheap no-name PSUs tend to explode or otherwise die rather than powering off if they get pushed near capacity. More details are needed such as your CPU temps and how exactly it's shutting down.

The power getting interrupted isn't necessarily the power supply. It could be due to bad soldering on your motherboard, and it could have physically been shifted loose (more likely on laptops). There could be a kink in the power cord. Start ruling out some possibilities. Run a stress test for a few hours.
