That time of the year is here again. Semester Finals. This is going to be one of my last finals of my high school life, but it seems as though my future is hanging on this one. I currently have a C in AP Spanish and this final can either make or break my grade. I have to do well on this test or else I'll end up keeping that C which can potentially jeopardize my UC acceptance.
I'm trying to prepare myself for the worst by trying to find out whether or not colleges like UC Berkley (hope I get in so i can take the starcraft class) and UC Irvine look at senior grades. Some people say colleges don't look at senior grades, but I always hear mixed answers about this. I know transcripts are only sent to colleges AFTER you get accepted, but colleges can always withdraw their acceptance if you receive less than satisfactory grades during senior year. Some say colleges are ok with it as long as you maintain a 3.0 gpa without receiving any D's or F's.
Spanish has never been my forte, but I was forced to take this class because of the IB program . I hope this C doesnt ruin my chances of going to my dream university.
Well time to start cramming :/
Hope you TL'ers do well on your finals~

1st semester is important because colleges use it to help determine whether or not to accept you. 2nd semester is not as important. My friend got accepted to Carnegie Mellon and got like a C average 2nd semester senior year and they didn't rescind his acceptance.
Suffice it to say, failing classes isn't a good idea at all, not that a C is failing. I also did poorly in Spanish. But in any case, try your best. Good luck~

Finals? What the hell, my classes just started today lol, Finals have been long over for me. Oh well good luck with your cramming.

Try not to focus on what potential universities might care more about, although they typically are lenient on your final semester of senior year. At this point just strap all your focus on doing your best on the exam(s), something you can control.
best of luck!

good luck with your finals. It can definitely be stressful (especially AP Spanish)- Just make sure you don't psyche yourself out by over-cramming.

Yeah, my marks dropped substantially second semester of my senior year after I got accepted to university. During the summer, the university just sent me a letter saying they were concerned about the dip in my academic performance and blah blah blah. But since they wanted my money, they didn't withdraw the acceptance.
But you should still be careful not to get too complacent though, because some people actually do get their acceptance rescinded if they do really poorly.

I discovered in my exams last year that I'm really bad at cramming!

Yeah. It varies by school but it isn't always well known what stance the school you were accepted to has until you find out the hard way...
This has been a problem for me teaching seniors who shut down after midterms and don't believe anyone that their grades actually matter.

Hahaha. I failed everything last semester and am borderline suicidal. But that is cool

UCs don't look at Senior grades at all. Some UCs do like at strength of schedule, but it's a very minor factor. What you should be doing in senior year is a lot of volunteer work, a lot of extracurriculars, and managing some club as president.
edit: You can't get D or F though and your GPA has to be above 3.0 for both semesters or they will rescind your acceptance.
