i recently stumbled upon a local san diego site which has a weekly special on the homeless:
http://www.sdcitybeat.com/cms/story/search/?category=47&page=1
i've lived in downtown san diego for 3 years now (no stranger to homeless) and have ran into some of the dudes interviewed.
brian
brian is a local homeless that used to hang out by my old building. he is one of the more famous homeless because of his trademarked coin toss sign (as pictured above). when ive seen brian he is usually upbeat and talkative. he rakes in the cash too, as people (especially tourists lol) love his sign and attitude. i pretty much never give out anything to the homeless (dont want to encourage that shit) but i've given him a cigarette or two. he's always grateful.
J.R.
i know J.R. through a friend. he does odd jobs around town, usually involving cleaning up or moving stuff. he also bartends every now and then at one of the local bars for winos where the men are old and have no teeth.
in october i was desperate for some dope but my connections werent getting back to me. lucky for me J.R. was doing a paint job on a new business opening up nearby. all he had was some shwag but it was appreciated none the less.
urban life is fun xD

i didnt notice it until you guys pointed it out but yeah they do look the same.
i guess it is sort of the homeless uniform, lul

man, at least the weather is nice down there, san diego homeless have it easy compared to some other places. i always find it really hard to not give something to someone freezing his ass off on the streets in nyc these days

If you're a homeless begger you can rake in so much cash a month that you don't need to be homeless anymore.

I live in San Diego, in the Clairemont area. There is this tanned ass homeless asian lady who walks around barefoot everywhere and smells like cigarettes and dirt. She scares me.

this thread involves nerds getting angry over incorrect drug slang
|
SD is kinda dirty like that. Like a nicer version of Anaheim...but then again everything is nicer than Anaheim.
|
wait isnt dope, crack. im so confused.
|
Dope is used to refer to many things, weed, heroin, coke, opium, speed. To my ears it generally means cannabis though.

So where is this thread going? Thank you for telling me about some homeless guys. I had a bad run in with a homeless dude in downtown cleveland, the guy just started yelliong at me and threatened to stab me when I didn't give him money.
PS, also coming back from a cavs game we saw this one guy who had a sign that read "I;m not gonna lie, i want your money for weed."

Dope = Heroin to me too. The only people I have ever heard call weed "dope" anymore are people who used to smoke like 20 years ago lol.
