Also, as long as you don't act like a total dick / get wasted and rip off your shirt, you'll be fine.
EDIT: also, concerning the side dishes, you can just ask the waiters for a refill.

Why is Yuk Gae Jang not foreigner friendly? Too hot? I can eat pretty hot... in like habanero pepper hot.

-라볶기 (spicy, has rice cake, fish cake, ramen noodles, hardboiled egg)
-잡채 (may be included in 반찬)
-김치재육볶음 (kimchi and pork dish grilled with onions)
Main Dish:
it depends on if you want soup-type stuff or bbq
soupish stuff:
-순두부찌개 (tofu soup, many variations on this)

-갈비탕 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galbitang
-된장찌개 (soybean paste base, vegetables, and tofu)
-김치찌개 (kimchi base, meat, tofu, vegetables. i wouldn't get this at restaurants though, because usually they use old/bad kimchi in this)
-물냉면 (cold noodles, very tasty. goes well with meat)
-비빔냉면 (similar to 물냉면 but substitute the nonspicy soup for spicy sauce.)
meat dishes (you know what all these look like):
-갈비
-불고기 (both beef/pork)
-삼겹살
Dessert:
most restaurants won't have desserts. you'll have to go to a nearby cafe/bakery or something
-팥빙수 (this is from a cafe near my school  shaved ice, ice cream, mochi, fruit, condensed milk, sweet red beans, etc)

Better off getting KBBQ in a restaurant that specializes in it. In NYC Ktown, its like $25 a plate, 3 plates for 4-5 people.
