I bet that fantasy, Canata, or Mong gets sold by next summer (SKT of course wants to keep BoxeR)... 2) January might get fired. January isn't the reason Jangbi sucks. Those are her boys, she'll never leave them :o

they need to turn things around soon though, shouldn't a coach make sure a player is at least prepared for a game?

He prepared his own strategy, made a mistake with his defense, and lost to a ling counter. What is January's part in that?
The only consistent error I perceive her making is sending out JangBi on maps where he's gonna face zerg when it's his worse matchup. Sending out firebathero for the TvZ and JangBi for the PvT is the better choice, but these things can be difficult to predict.

Race depth beyond three players seems largely pointless as long as you're focusing primarily on proleague (Maybe even beyond two players? If you're Woongjin and playing only PL, do you really play your third string Zerg after Zero and Kwanro for ANY reason?). Of course it's always nice to have more backup if you want to keep your star player happy by letting him practice for MSL/OSL matches....

While I don't want January to be fired, I don't think she's doing the best with her squad. Yeah, Jangbi didn't play well. Yeah, firebathero's slumping. But as a whole, Samsung should be doing much better with players like Stork, and great.

SKT was always a team famous for good terrans, i doubt that they want to end that legacy. And i don't know if that is supposed to be a joke, but they will definitely not sell fantasy, he is way to important for them.

not fantasy then.
But CJ had savior, Effort, Kwanro, and Hydra (very good in minor leagues) and that was too much given the race restrictions, so they sold Kwanro. I think the equivalents are:
savior: Boxer Effort: fantasy Hydra: Mong and Kwanro: Canata
but Canata's their captain, so SKT's kind of in a bind.

January won't get fired ... she's been with khan forever - taken them to the proleague finals numerous times and even scored them a title win - teams can't stay consistently good forever (even SKT slumped...) and firing january is just going to compound the slump of the team.

if January gets fired, so will Coach Cho
and both have been through thick and thin with their team for years
it'll never happen

'She's popular here because she's the only female coach.' Way to make a generalization based upon scant knowledge of how 'popular' she actually is here in Korea. Her popularity has nothing to do with her gender. (Except for the idea that she's seen as a good 'mother' to the 'family' of Samsung Khan.)
Other than that she's treated exactly the same as the other coaches and managers. I've seen much worse performances sustained for a much longer period of time without people getting fired.

While the comparison fits quite nicely, although as a boxer fan its hard to admit that savior is still a lot better than boxer, you have to keep in mind that SKT1 sold Midas to Wemade very recently. And you also have to think about the playoffs. There you have more matches and a deeper lineup is necessary to win it all.

There's really no rule or reason to head coach firings, as far as we can tell. We barely get any information on the background of coach firings. While we can say we can't predict her being fired, I'd also say it's impossible to say she WON'T get fired either. People have been fired for much less, and stayed on through much worse.

I'm not sure you can blame a coach solely for the performance of the players, if they slump, its not really her fault. I'm sure she's doing whatever she can to get them out of it...
