I had no idea we had all this information about our evolutionary history.

They basically took a lot of old WW2 footage--many of it unseen--and digitally remastered it to make it high quality. Most of the footage comes from individuals who had held it for many years, but never released it for public viewing until now. Because of that, a lot of the focus is on individual soldiers and what they experienced at particular parts of the campaign. The history channel website has a couple videos from the series up for free: http://www.history.com/content/wwii-in-hd Awesome I watched most of it yesterday it was great. Though I wish PBS would air Ken Burns WWII documentary again, it is a masterpiece IMO.
