Ah wow OP, GJ on surviving. Hope you listen to your GF from now on :O.

About the appendix thing, I just always thought it was a vestigial organ that was left over from earlier in evolution kinda like tonsils and you actually don't need them.

The appendix is like a backup brain for the body, it controls the lower abdomen + penis.

from what i've been told, it's like emperorchampion said, appendix is like a holding place for various bacteria shit that inhabits your intestines so that if they ever get flushed out for whatever reason (some sickness etc) they can repopulate so u don't die. from what i remember there was some fairly recent study on it or sth. now it's pretty rare that they'd all get flushed out so ppl that had 'em removed shouldn't really worry =p

i'm sure you can read it up on wiki or w/e
(\o/)  If you want it, you find a way. Otherwise you find excuses. No exceptions.

This is why you need to be careful with pain. It is a natural response when something is wrong. It is telling us that something needs to be fixed. I've learned this from experience. I'll give 2 examples.

I was walking in my back yard, and I tripped. I broke my leg at my ankle - both my tibia and fibula. It hurt like hell, but I thought it was only sprained. I got up and tried to walk it off. That failed miserably. Still, I didn't think I needed to get to the hospital. When I finally was talked into going by my mother (I was in grade 8 at the time), it was almost 8 hours after I broke it. I didn't see a doctor for hours, because I didn't describe the injury as being as bad as it really was. I was in surgery to fix it the next day, and it took hours to reconstruct my ankle. The surgeon prescribed me 6 months of T3's, and told me that I was not allowed to put any pressure on my ankle for 4 months. I was walking in my cast in 2 months, and I used a grand total of 3 T3 pills.....

In grade 12+, I was playing in our first game of football of the season. It was my final season of football, even though I had to go back for another year. I was going to be on the field every play of every game, and looking forward to it. But, on a 3rd and short, I get stuck in the bottom of a pile. I get up and go to the huddle, and I notice my wrist is limp, and isn't doing anything when I try to move it. I go off the field, and see the medic. She wraps it up, telling me that I have a fracture, that I have to be out for the rest of the game, but should be fine for next week. Later that evening, my mother tricks me into going to the hospital. It turns out I broke my arm, and a number of small bones in my wrist, as well as dislodged a few of the bones in my wrist. After they reset it, I get a cast on, and the doctor tells me that I shouldn't play football for the rest of the season. So, with my last year of football on the line, I can't accept that I'm out in the first game. I go and see a bunch of doctors, until one finally lets me play with a cast on. Fortunately, I'm allowed back on the field, with my cast wrapped for the safety of others. Unfortunately, I'm not allowed to play every position I was going to, and am stuck on offensive line only. It took me getting down and doing pushups before that doctor would allow me to play with the cast.

So, since these incidents, I've been more careful whenever I think there might be something wrong with me. It's also why I can really appreciate being Canadian.

Unless it holds it from growing, my friend definitely has a bigger one and he had appendix removed.

what?

Good lesson not to ignore your body I'd say. It's good that you're okay, but even better that you learned
Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.

Yeah, how did you think penis enlargement surgeries worked? They remove parts of the appendix, less innervation to the muscles holding your penis inside the body, penis descends -> is big

Happened to my dad too.

He's a stoic (a trait I kinda share) and waited until the day after it burst to follow up on the specialist that his GP recommended. Almost died.

Not a fun experience, I hear ya man.

Wow, I'm impressed you just tried to ignore it. Usually for little things its ok to just suck it up but generally excruciating pain is a bad sign... anyways glad to hear it turned out well. and at least you know it can't happen again.
