So um I am like an experienced techie piece of a shit over here at my workplace and to share with a younger generation some of that shit I do sometimes conduct some tech-seminars. This particular one is like one of the best design things I could share with the younglings and stuff. So up until today I conducted this very same seminar with three different groups already and this last 4th one is scheduled on today for some small teams together – like 10 people showed up and here we start. Now the seminar goes this way, I blah-blah some introduction, then discuss a technical issue why doing this (code derivation in OO) thing is bad and how could you do better. So I get them to feel a strong point of dep-injection and then I move on and we watch an excellent talk about the subject. The whole thing is usually spiced up with really hot discussions and a Q/A during the whole 1.5 hours it takes.
Now today is the day and as usual I start with the introduction and then I draw my usual example of derivation and then a blackout, a complete emptiness… while trying hard in my mind to think of what I was really going to talk, I ramble something, then pause, speak a bit, and realizing everything is going very bad, I ask with a hope: "did I convince you people that derivation is bad?". lolwhat? Did you even say anything meaningful in the last 3 minutes at all? Naturally I hear a lot of "no, you did not" replies. Then someone tries to help me to come up with something useful, everyone starts to speak, everything floats around, I realize that I don’t have anything to add and then I understand it’s "one of those moments".
Previously I would never believe that somebody could end up with a situation like this. With the usual stupid radical attitude I have I would address this like "he didn’t know the subject at all" or something like that. I know those people don’t think this way now because they know this was the 4th time I am doing this seminar and stuff. What really bothers me is this "one of those moments" thing.
Sth like this happened to me only once in the past some years ago – that time the thing would not get up t.t. And now, standing in front of this dozen people I am feeling exactly like then. So admitting to me that "it happened again, fuck you" I proceeded with "sorry, I don’t understand what’s with me, let’s skip the first part and proceed with the video".
All this age 30 stress, sleeping 4 hours a day in the past 3 weeks, drinking that much(fuck me if this is the reason – I must be completely lost then t.t), this stupid things going on in my life and the hardcore "learn these things" would all "help" it I guess.
Well, I hope "you're young, it'll happen more and more" thing the judge said to Jim Carrey won’t become my usual companion, at least not in the nearest 2 decades. so I finish with not saying fml at all, which I was going to say when started writing this, just writing this helped me to overcome saying that, so some relief here, going to watch the paranormal activity now and have some sleep.

I dig your 'let's get on with it' attitude. These things happen, and you just pull the solution outta your pocket and keep movin. Nothin' to worry about, sounds like you are on top of it now.

yeah dude, everyone has a moment like that.. probably has to do with lack of sleep, maybe drinking (dunno how much you're drinking on weeknights lol, but its probably not a good idea if you have a presentation the next day).
The important thing is to learn from it.. if this happens again (you draw a blank) what would you do in the future? maybe carry a notecard to your seminars to remind you where to go when things turn bad?

I don't know because I think I need more sleep than most people. But 4h/night is more than likely not enough. Also alcohol drains you kind of and makes you weaker (at least it does that for me).
