Call the people from the poker site, get in contact with them and use your real life identity to get the money back. Get in contact with whoever the heck runs HoN (I play LoL myself) and see if they log IPs and can tell you who was logged onto your account - if so, that might make him traceable. Next, get the cops involved, because 10k CDN is huge.

I also think going thru HoN would be the easiest way to find the dude's IP. In the meanwhile if I were you I'd check your account on other programs/games etc. (eg. garena / starcraft) to narrow the culprit down a bit. I'm guessing he knows you reasonably well if he has both a HoN beta key and knows where u have all ur poker money stored. Anyways GL HF

Man, you need to get some advice from adults with experience here in real life. Stop looking around on the internet for answers. Call your parents, friends, etc. Talk to a lawyer maybe. Call the police. Work extra hard on finding a number for carlospoker. Why do you even have an account there if you know almost nothing about them and they don't have contact info outside of an email address?

Try doing a whois on their domain to see if there is any contact if there. Look really hard through the site to see if you can find something. Try googling for a phone number. Ask other players who play there if they have contact information. Contact MSN/Hotmail support to see if you can get your account locked down and see if you can get access logs to your account. They probably log IP addresses so they should be able to tell when it isn't you who is logging in. Stop using the infected computer right away. I wouldn't trust virus removal at this point, but I would follow the advice of not formatting until you go to the police or go through an investigation if you are going to do that. Consider taking your computer to a local expert in your area to have it looked at, but again I'd wait until you talk to the police first.

You have lots of options here and paths you can take ... it just depends on how much effort you are willing to put in to get your money back if it was stolen and to possibly catch the person responsible. One thing you will learn in life, is you are the only person who is 100% concerned with you. If you want other people/authorities to help you then you need to push for it as hard as you can. It's very rare that people will push for you just because ... except sometimes family.

Welp, finally posting from a safe computer atleast.
And yup, that's what I'm doing sir poster above.
But when I learned this it wasn't exactly the right time of day to take action. I've already told people in real life and am going to the police later today, while I am on the phone with RCMP's fraud busters right now.

I have no idea how in depth the police will investigate matters like this however if they don't, you can always attempt to trace the attacker by using the trojan/keylogger that's on your pc. If you upload a copy of the infected files I'm sure someone could get their IP/hostname and if they were sloppy and didn't use proxies/vpn's then you could forward that info to the police.

Managed to freeze my poker account, he only ran through a few hundred and the money is now safe.

Nice. See if they can trace the transfers of the few hundred though? If he manages to get them out of the site into his own pocket, then it's traceable to him somehow.

They could even trace his ip to his own msn, if he logged in it. but I assume they wouldn't do that because of their policy.

I would actually like for anyone to help me.
Where do I contact the hotmail people about this? I'm not sure what's going on but no computer from my house can get to www.hotmail.com. I know it's Windows Live now so anyone who knows who I should e-mail about my compromised e-mail at Windows Live / Hotmail, if someone could post an e-mail address for me to write to it would be a huge help.

Seeing how it was presumably a keylogger that he took your passwords with (I guess that was the consensus?), I think it will be pretty hard to get the email account back, seeing how you probably dont really have identity bindings with it, unlike the poker account.

From their point of view, someone logged in to your account with your password, and changed the password. Why would they give the account to someone else claiming its his? Even if you were to rely on things like using your own IP for ages, then now its apparently a different one (if you have a static IP), that is at least shaky. (what if you've been using your friend's pc for two weeks to log into your email account? Can he then claim your account with such reasoning?:-p)
For the same reasons, you will probably not get the IP of the guy from hotmail's provider either.
So I dont see any way to get it back. I hope you prove me wrong though.

It came from the HoN community. Apparently an admin account was compromised and he got my password through that. He then used that password on my e-mail to get into my e-mail and into my account. From that he scoped out the e-mail for anything of value and obviously went for the poker.

I just need to be able to contact Windows Live or Hotmail about the compromised account and see what they can do. I'm quite sure if I could call them, get them to call me, or e-mail them about this problem that I would be able to solve it.
