I hate hoegarden, that tasted like sweet crap. I also can't drink sugar filled vk's and all other pansy drinks. Not a fan of ciders either, they taste like piss water.
Corona + San Miguel with lime is the shit. Or pretty much any spirit, to be honest I mainly drink to get drunk as hell. But I'm English, it's what we do.

I am with this man. Everything is better in it's rawest, purest form. I really despise anything sweetened, fruity, or otherwise tainted. Give me black coffee, as strong as possible.
I only drink the purest and best (and most bitter) Pilsner beers from Germany and Czech Rep. I can't describe the contempt I have for all the fruity lemon sugary cranberry abominations people still call beer.
I also absolutely love good Scotch and similarly could smack people who ruin the experience of a good whisky with ice or *gasp* mixing it with anything else.
And don't get me started on cocktails. I think you should get your ass kicked if caught with any drink sporting straws and umbrellas.

Beer is nice, but like coffee it's not something you will find good instantly. Sometimes I think people just pretend that they think beer is "good" or moreso that they want to think it is good. I mean I do like beer but I can't say I get ecstatic if I drink a certain beer, although I can think that it's quite nice.
So I think when it comes down to it, a big percentage of beer drinking is some sort of construct in our heads that makes us think there's something special with beer. Also another theory of mine is that it's actually the alcohol that boosts our warm feelings towards beer; now if there wasn't any alcohol in beer probably no one would drink it.
Red wine is maybe the same, but i'm personally hotter for wine because it's a different, more intense, tasting sensation to red wine.

I agree. I love weird beers though. Just can't stand mixed drinks.
Also, AWASDFADFASG I never thought I'd live to see someone prefer San Miguel over Hoegaarden.

You're taking a drug because life isn't good enough on its own, so why not take one that symbolises that. I used to drink a lot of black coffee, but it wrecks havoc with your digestion. Coffee is rather acidic, so if you don't dilute it with anything else, it's rather harsh on your stomach and intestines. Now I just add a little bit of nonfat milk so as to preserve my digestion until I'm 50 years old. I can attest to that. I don't often have coffee, and when I do I only have one mug's worth. I thought it was just because I didn't have a tolerance to the caffeine (I don't want to become dependent on it) that my friends would always have large gigantic coffees, and my parents, and everyone else I knew. But I guess it was just because they happen to prefer their coffee with cream.
It's not that I don't like fruity things... I love apple juice. It's that I don't particularly want to mix them with alcohol or whatnot.
On the topic of brewing... I've known some people who did their own beer, and my granddad was a chemist who used to make his own champaign or something. They liked it fine. Couldn't really give you advice though.. Just be really careful following the instructions :S Well actually... My parents also 'made' their own wine... But what that really means is they went to some place that will mass produce it for your really cheaply. They got one red, and one white, and filled like 200 empty bottles and it ended up costing something like 2 dollars a bottle. I think they taste fine.

beer is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like the taste of beers too. Not really stouts. Too thick. But ales, lagers. They are great. I heard wine is easier to make than beer though. Don't know if that's your thing, but it may be smart to start with something easier. More room for error, less sanitation needed for wine.
