This is a reply I am writing from the article what I considered as a great read:

http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=103979

I fully approve and agree with this article! I also do agree with the other one and there's nothing wrong with liking old and new players! Like how I still love BoxeR to heart and every time he scores a win, I cry out "YEAAAAAAAAA BOXERRRRRRRRR" but at the same time, I'm like that when it comes down to an excellent show of display of games between Bisu, Jaedong and Flash.

Bandwagon is completely acceptable in society and reality. Obviously at some part or another, I'd say everyone have been a bandwagon fan in the past. In normal and most cases, a TRUE FAN starts as a bandwagon and slowly grows out of that stage once you truly like them not because of their skills and nature but because you just do. That's what I think OP and the other OP are trying to state. Both of these articles link up to one another, these are just showing the stepping stones and the results. I may be wrong, but that's how I really believe.

Look, I started out as a SKT1 fan from the straight get go from day 1 just simply because I fell in love with BoxeR (no, I'm not gay, just as a fan-ish way). And look, he was from SKT1! So I instantly joined the bandwagon of what's called SKT1 from that very first day. Am I the same type of guy now who's a SKT1 because of BoxeR, Bisu, and their sheer dominance in 2009? Yes and no. Yes because I loved it when that happened, there's nothing wrong with that but no because after a year and half of following progaming scene, I learned to respect and like not just those main stars and the team but the entire organization as a whole. That doesn't mean I still like all the players, but someone like Hyuk, I truly believe and want to believe he'll become the next top zerg! Is that bandwagon? No, it's personal opinion that grew up from a group of consciences that was formed right here in TL. That's why I love TL so much, only because of TL I follow PL, only because TL exist, I exist. I don't about you guys but TL made me smarter than what I was when I was just a loose cannon watching random VODs whenever I feel bored on youtube.

So for that TL, thank you, my intelligence level increased by able to read, share, and express opinions with others. That may include trollers, that may include myself trolling, and being trolled, nonetheless, it's a great experience to have which I can only find such an experience right here in TL. I will continue to do so and I will find it right here on the very site with all of you.

Yet bandwagon rolls forward...

Thanks to (Z)Hyuk!

I think this outlines one of the issues that people might have with bandwagoning: it's not about how quickly people jump ON the bandwagon, but how quickly people jump OFF. Everyone starts by following someone successful, true, but they stick to those players. Boxer fans still love to see Boxer try something crazy. Savior fans still consider themselves as such. The real bandwagoning that I feel people might be opposed to are the type of person who just hops on the bandwagon as soon as someone wins an OSL or gets #1 Kespa rank, and then just as quickly jumps off when they enter a slight slump.

I can see why someone might be against that sort of bandwagoning. In some sense, it implies that the ONLY part of the player that appealed to them was their success. Success should be a PART of why you like the players you do, but it's sort of shallow if it's the ONLY reason you like the players you do.

Maybe its because well thought out posts in a thread die under a storm of two-line conversations

Well, the idea of liking players apart from their plays gets a little bit dangerous: its really hard to see what a pro gamer is actually like outside of his game. When Ma Jae Yoon's habits were called into question, thousands of devoted fans were shocked that the sAviOr they put up on a pedestal and adored might consider such things.

Also I agree a lot with the piece, but I think it also touches on why a lot of people reject the bandwagon. For example, for any long time Pusan fan who waited 4 years for him to return to starleagues, its easy to see why he might scorn someone who started adoring Pusan after ripping apart the MSL OSL Prelims.

It's not necessarily about what they do outside the game, but it can be. That's just one aspect of it. Point is, a developed fan should have something good to say about the player they support other than "he's the best" or "he wins games".

no, bandwagoning is just doing it once. doing it multiple times in quick succession is bandwagon jumping.

haha
It's true but the point of the article was that everyone is a bandwagon fan because every great player has to start out somewhere. You don't automatically start supporting a random nobody, you see someone starting to win games and they do well and you begin to enjoy watching their games and expecting more out of them. Then you find that they are suddenly at the top of their game and there are masses of people alongside you cheering for that person, until they start losing games and then a majority of those people lose interest.

Fixed.... but the "of" was unnecessary at the end....

Anyway, what I was meaning in simple easy terms was the fact that bandwagon is cool and all in which we all start from somewhere but once you reach that mark of jumping and going to other teams in a multiple bandwagons, your credibility lessens on and on.....

Like for example, if you are someone who happens to switch teams and become a fanboy of every single team in SC PL (like SKT1 --> MBC --> Hite --> OZ --> ACE --> WeMade --> STX --> Khan --> CJ --> Stars --> Estro --> KT ---> SKT1 etc) then that's just sad, ridiculous and you sir, have destroyed every single point of being a true fan...
