here is a picture from yesterday, it has turned a little whiter since i took this picture. + Show Spoiler [kinda gross] + ![[image loading]](http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/1629/img1266yu.jpg) edit: oh yeah and my ankle has been swelling up some and turning kinda of red, i think some fluid is building up there and it is kinda painful to walk on sometimes.  | ||

First, I would dissenfect the hell out of the wound with alcoholic swabs and stuff and then I would put stuff like hydrocortisone with aloe on it to progress healing and stop the pain. Second, keep the wound away from water I've noticed if you put water on it it slows down the healing process and makes it look all gumpy and shit. Last, I think i've had yellow gump come out of wounds and stuff... I thought it was a natural way of your body to "make the crust" to stop shit from getting into it while it heals. About your ankle swelling and stuff I would have no idea if thats wound related or what. | ||

And you'd also use alcoholic swabs? :s Anyway to the op - go see a doctor. Can't really tell by the photos. Somewhat concerning is some erythema which appears to be extending ?distally vs proximally - especially if its overlying a joint like the ankle. (infection can seed into the joint, and destroy cartilage very very fast). The burns themselves are very superficial - though the skin which usually acts as a protective barrier is broken = potential entry point for infection. | ||

As for the ankle swelling...I would suggest taking some anti-inflammatory medication. If the swelling hasn't reduced, then you may have a possible infection. I'm not a doctor or have any knowledge in medicine other than what I've learned through others. Use your best judgment. If you think the wound and the swelling is getting worse, then go see a doctor. Don't go when the wounds are just intolerable to bear, it may be too late then. | ||

Also if he's having problems down to his ankle, treating the wound won't help the infection. He's gonna need antibiotics if it gets worse. Don't use alcohol, use hydrogen peroxide to clean/disinfect the wound now and then (though it'll interfere with the healing process, so not too often). Use saline to clean it regularly and get the gunk off, and keep it wrapped up in gauze. You'll only irritate the wound further with alcohol. -_-;; Water won't harm him unless he puts it in some dank and swampy shit. It'll look gumpy just because his skin will be absorbing water...just like when your fingers get pruny. -_-. OP...Go see a doctor. EDIT EDIT BTW...if there's pus coming out, that means there's an infection. EDIT Yellow pus means that white blood cells came and died in that area. That means your body is fighting off an infection. Since it hasn't been getting better, go see a doctor. Actually...go see a doctor anyway. Pus isn't there to scab...blood is. EDIT again... On second thought, GO SEE A FUCKING DOCTOR. | ||

I would just leave it for a couple days (no neosporin or anything). Let it heal and scar over. If in 2 days it's getting worse/not showing any improvement at all then go to a doctor. Most of the time in these scenarios, the body can just heal itself. | ||

Someone who ACTUALLY knows what he's talking about. -____-;; The fact that it's located close to your ankle (which also happens to be swollen and painful) and that there's redness around it indicates that you should go see a doctor. It's likely that you need oral antibiotics at this point (especially with the swollen ankle), not topical OTC stuff like neosporin, and the only way you'll get that is from a prescription. Seriously, what's the worst that could happen (other than them amputating your foot)? -.- | ||

I don't think you necessarily have to. Obviously stay away from dirty water (rain, puddles, rivers, lakes, ocean, etc.) but the tap water has tons of chlorine in it in the US (your profile says you're from here.) so I think it's safe. The thing is after every shower or w.e, I think you should rework the burn (apply antibiotic cream again, and then cover up with bandages (not the sticky ones, the other ones that are like very loosely knit clothes (i dunno wtf u call it.) If after taking a shower the thing got all soft and there's a piece of skin or w.e it is hanging off, it's usually better to cut it off with scissors. That cover of dried crap is what your body makes to protect the wound, but if you put bandages on it, it's actually better if you don't have it as it may keep too much moisture from getting wet, and removing it also allows to apply w.e you're using directly. As for your ankle, try different movements with it and monitor the pain/how it feels if it's getting worse I think going to the doctor would be the best choice, unless you find a piece of credible information/research online which says that it's a natural part of healing a burn such as yours. | ||

That's not pus dude, it's plasma/clear fluid. Haven't you ever scraped your knee really badly? That's what happens when you scrape off a layer of skin. He never mentioned that pus came out, it's just clear fluid that helps form a scar. Swelling in the ankle isn't surprising either because it looks like a big scar which would obviously affect the surrounding areas. And you shouldn't be worried about shit lol it's his problem not ours. | ||
