Shakespeare - died 1616 (after the Dark Ages obviously). After the Tang Dynasty there are still like 9 or 10 other Chinese dynasties to go and if the Tang was after Shakespeare then we can't have gotten through all them in time for the Boxer Rebellion and whatever in the early 1900s.
