So while at work Thursday evening I was sitting in the break room during break and I get a text message from my mom. The message was to my Aunt and Grandmother telling them that I would be able to fix the fucking fence at my Aunt's, as well as repaint, and repair the god damn roof of the shed in my grandmother's back yard on Sunday
- I am having to write a 12 page paper by Tuesday that I am only half way through with. As well as read four more chapters.
- My Uncle can't possibly do it since his back hurts. Which basically means he is too lazy to do it. My cousin, is well just lazy.
- I have problem with working on the shed at my Grandmother's I just can't do it this weekend. The roof is not leaking and the paint is fine.
- It's the fucking weekend if I am not at class I am working, or doing homework. I just want to fucking relax.
So right now I am torn between just being moody about it and going through with it and just saying fuck it I am not doing it, and not giving a shit.

for me, being outside doing something is relaxing. but i understand your pain. i just had 2 days off and i stayed in my room for most of the day, but still went out at night. having that alone time did wonders to keep myself sane, as weird as it may sound.
just tell your grandma the situation and hopes she can understand. gl

I mean you have a fucking job, the least they could do is ask you BEFORE if you have free time.

Yeah it sucks that he is losing his free time, and that e is busy. On the other hand, helping out family is not something I would personally say "fuck that" to. Maybe they are relying on him because he is the most reliable person for the job.
@OP I you are busy, postpone it, but I don't see why you have to get mad about it. It makes you seem kind of petulant. Get it done and take satisfaction in helping out someone that you care about.

Tell them what's up, I assume that they'll understand. And as Mani said, they rely on you. I know it's annoying but it is a compliment in its own right. I'm not saying to shirk off the whole thing but definitely try and postpone it until you're in a better situation time wise. Ask them if they can wait a few days until you get your school stuff out of the way.

Just tell them you're busy. Your uncle got out of it with some bullshit excuse about his back, your cousin got out of it cause he doesn't want to, your mother got out of it cause... Well, she passed it to you. You can get out of it by saying you can't do anything until midterms are over. Not complicated, getting good marks in school take priority over manual labour any one of them could do themselves. In my family that's always understood, as much as they ask me to help them do things (because I only don't help when I have a legitimate priority).
The reason to be mad is that you have to tell your poor grandmother you're not going to help them this weekend. But you can pass that responsibility on to your mother because it's her fault.

totally agreed i dont see why theres any need to get 'pissed off' thats just what moms do (even tho her approach was quite condescending
just be like lol mom busy this weekend but i'll take care of it asap and stop caring
